Soooo.

Yeah. I'm about to get a learner's permit ( i live in US) and although I may seem calm about it, I'm actually really nervous. I went to the DMV site and took their practice written test, and scored 21/25 (which passes) but still...

I almost don't want to do it. I've managed to use theater as an excuse for now, but I have three days off due to standardized testing (FUN :glare: ) and I have no excuse.

So, any advice? Plus I have to go play DS ( :gba: ) for a while, sooo, yeah...

EDIT: I would also like advice from people who already have a license/ permit

I got my permit last year, i'm in england. To put thing simply i refused to learn. I later added some excuses such as i'm in further education i can't afford the running costs, the extra studdies will be impractical and everyone else in the family already drives. Basically if you just don't want to drive then you need to tell your parents so that you can start when YOU want to drive.

Your test is only 25 questions? wow, how simple

Ours is like over 50 and we're allowed 6 mistakes.

Heheh, yeah. My test was only like 25 questions too; all of them retarded. "How many sides does a stop sign have?"
God. First of all, you'd have to be an idiot to get that wrong. Second of all, I don't see how that's a relevant question. > <

yeah but apparently...there are drivers who don't know..that you can stop or there's a brake pedal >____<, can't count how many people i've seen per day who run stop lights in their overpaid ugly cars that let anyone within a 5 state area that you're there with their engines...i can get teh same sound too...just gimme a screwdriver to poke holes in my muffler with

I have my full license.

The written is mostly common sense. Do your homework and you're good to go.
As far as the practical goes... don't do stupid things. There's no magic here, just your common sense.

I'm taking drivers ed this summer the written part of it, and I'll probably try the driving part after a good year of training. I don't want to run anyone over, or get myself killed~
I should also get a 4.0 so the insurence company won't charge as much because they think nerds are safe drivers.

:P just use your head and know that you're in an actual car not in some mario kart or need for speed suped up car...you're not gonna see someone driving those 50zillion dollar cars the way you drive em in those games...if you even see those cars lol
and in actuality...anyone can drive..just don't get pulled over

I'm actually horrible at driving games, I find driving at Lego-land and Disney land difficult.
I'm pretty sure I do have hand eye coordination, maybe it's just the walls that are moving too close XD

I have my liscense. Drivers ed was a butt, but its worth it in the end. When I had my temps (permit) my dad would take me out all the time. The more you drive the more you get used to it. Be sure to practice manueverability, including backing and parking. They're easy in a smaller car, but a pain in a van. But either way it gets really easy once you do it often.

Driving is a good skill to have. I don't know for cityfolk, but where I live I can't walk anywhere decent, so its essential for me to drive.

I love it.

I've got plenty of that so I should be fine. So should Syl. I know her.

My driving exam was maybe 20 questions long. The first question on it was "What is your name?" and listed my name and three other made up names x_x

I didn't get my license until a week before I turned 20. Everytime I tried to drive before that I would have little panic attacks and get claustraphobic. But i had to force myself to get over it and now I LOVE driving. I don't know how I lived before!

And I failed parallel parking...but still passed the full driving exam. There really isn't any where you would parallel park in San Antonio. Unless you're downtown. But I never drive there. We usually just carpool there in my other friend's car cuz he knows the area best.

My mom wants me to get my license. I'm going to wait until I'm 18 though, because its way to friggen expensive, like hell I'm gonna pay $400 for a stupid piece of paper than says I can legally drive a car

Yeah, I would do the same thing but circumstances told me that I had to drive when I was a junior in HS. (Both parents work and I've got extracurricular activities, so the bus was out) And I had a shiny car to drive. =)

Parallel parking, just take your time.
