Here´s a concept I made last year and the 3D of it. Iam more into drawing. So I will post more 2D later on. But I have some other 3D stuff too. Anyway, here´s for now.

One more thing. This is normal map and a lazy specularity map on it. Its under 4000 polygons. As you might see on the silhouette. The textures are 1024x1024.

Here´s the high polygon model of it. Its looks kinda better without textures: ^^ =P

Pretty cool. What are you using to model?
Also, what Ice Country are you from? If it's the one I'm thinking of, you're the coolest person ever. XD

You'd make a very good game designer if you put up to it.

Honestly, dont say crap like that.
Hes got some skill in modeling, help him improve on that, thats like telling some dude who can do a kickflip that he could be a pro skater...

Slightly true but...that's how all the comments are on this board. = \
There's nothing wrong with saying "good job!" It's just not as helpful as saying "good job, but fix this." Haha. XD

Heheh, nice. I'm using Maya too. As for you model, I like everything but the face. To fix that, I'd suggest downloading Zbrush. It makes organic modeling much, much easier. :3
Your textures also need some work; your concept sketch looks about 10 times cooler than your model, because you know how to handle a pencil more than maya (as you said.) The textures all look a little plastic-y and sameish. Good overall though. ^_^

It looks to me like the arms are kinda short (on the model), is it rigged at all?

Arashi_no_Toriko Thanks! Here is an update.

cody/mccollaum Thank you!

{CriMsoN_DraGoN} Thanks. I aim to be a concept designer & illustrator. I decided to do so this year. I will work everyday untill I reach it. I have improved much in a year. And that time I gave most of the time to work with 3D.

HopelessComposer Yeah, I know about Zbrush. And about the textures and the plastic look. I had plenty of problems under this project... And the normalmap took halfhous to waint for the projection with the school computers and we used maya 6 (it craches often, and I got mad).

Luis Well, for a human its not short. Maybe its the angle. I have not rigged it. I am not goin to use it for anything anyway.

I appreciate all comments!

I will show more finnished work later. I hope.

Edit: spelling...

Ugh, I hear you. That's the one thing I hate about 3d work; my computer can't handle it. Tweaking things blows when you have to wait 15 minutes for each render. I feel your pain! XD
And that new painting is sick, very nice use of colors, though I don't think there's enough contrast in there. The skeleton guy is nice, but doesn't seem to be on par with the rest of your work.

I was playing a spaztic game with a final level that included a boss just like your eyeball tower.

Good stuff, must have been an ass to go to all that detail though~

Oh I absolutely love the first one. Changing the contrast (in terms of that dark matter, I really don't know what to cool it. Infrastructure?) would be okay, but it all depends on what you're going for. When I imagine higher contrast in those parts, I think a more retro or a dark, imposing "Sin City" look. If that's what you're going for.
As for me, I like it fine as it is. Except for the eye part (this is where Hopeless's contrast comment comes in). If you're aiming for that to be the focal point, you're going to have to make it stand out and draw attention, maybe a brighter, more vibrant colour for the iris; and if you're feeling up to it, make the eye even larger, but that would be troublesome, since that means altering the rest of the piece.
I sort of think those tiers would do better if they were taller to give them an imposing feel, otherwise it seems rushed and squished. Again, it depends on whatever mood you're after it to show.
But overall, smashing good concept, very well executed. I give you me "methodx thumbsup of approval". :)

As for the second piece, I'm personally not that into that kind of art*cougheternal*, but I have to admit it's kind of sexy, if you will, in it's own way.
Edit: Well I obviously didn't put that right, since Eternal now thinks I'm a necrophiliac. I really couldn't think of anything at that moment to say. So I reword and rethink my statement.
For a sketch, it is very (and I mean very) cleanly drawn. Clean is good. However, you showed the the pseudo-skeleton (pseudo, since it still has flesh) has it's head tilting up pretty well but you could improve on it a little. Consider slightly shrinking/tapering (more specifically) the right side of his forehead..

:)

HopelessComposer Thanks. About the last sketch. I just wanted to show the very nice lineart. ^^ I love my lines.

Eternal Thanks. It took some time. heh. I keept changing it pretty much. About the eyeball. That was a last resort. I tested other thing before it.

methodx About the tower, I have a very bright screen to work on. And some of you may probobly have a CTR (they are a little darker in general). I watch this work on a laptop and it was very dark in that. I dont know if I might show you another brighter version of it.
I am not for a sin city look as I remeber it.
I like your advices btw. :) Thank you

{CriMsoN_DraGoN}Thanks! I won´t.

The wolf looks like that wolf/plant thing off of Lady in the Water(strange movie). Though, it looks much more simpler than it, which is actually as a matter of fact. The one in the movie has too many vines in im lol. Likes it by the way, do you have a deviantart account by any chance? Because you would be greatly praised on there. As well as getting much advice from professionals. If I could, I would fav every single one of your art.
And the 2nd one looks very well detailed, nice job!

Arashi_no_Toriko Yes. Ehm. or nordic mythology is what I have study and found it from. But its kinda famous anyway. Heh.

Tse Ling Thanks

{CriMsoN_DraGoN} Thanks. I used to have a deviant account some year ago (for a short period of time). I might get a new one. Thanks for the tip. I had elfwood for sometimes too. But it took such a time to be published..

Edit:..
I will make an update in a week or two. Iam busy now. =]

Ah, you're getting better I think. :3
The only thing I don't like about these two is that...your light source seems kind of weak...thus the pictures seem a little flat in some places. I mean, you have white like...everywhere, no matter the location on the body. Kind of like the world is lit ambiently from all directions at once. XD

Gotta 3d em up!
Nice work though.

JoaKim
May 5th, 2007, 11:21 am
Yeah, I know. I have no excuse (but I willl write one just for fun). I don't make up lightsources in all my drawings or if I do, I dont take the time to think so much of it (bad habit).

Anyway. These are more of a conception. I am trying to do that part the best. Making rough indications of my ideas.

I also want to point out that this is in the earlier stage of a potential well made image (parhaps coloured). But also that these images just where things that intrigued my mind by working on other works.

Thanks for reply. Comment & crits are all welcome.

^That's true, they don't have any backgrounds either, so I should've figured they were only concepts I guess. M'bad m'bad. Anyway, they're awesome concepts. I love the turtle. XD
