Hi,

I'm looking for a digital piano to purchase; currently have a keyboard at home.
Price range would be anything around $1000.
I need it to have multiple instruments and rhythm functions.
We were first looking into Roland KR-103, but then a shop keeper told us that most people go for "the Yamaha".

If you have any suggestions or advice then please tell me.

Thank you very much,

It's true, most people do go for the yamaha. As long as both do what you need then just get the one with the right 'feel'.

I actually like the piano samples from Roland, much more than those of Yamaha. That's about all I know about electric pianos :)

i got the Yamaha DGX-620 not too long ago. it's really nice. it was about $1000, too. it's got weighted keys and a ton of different instrument and rhythm functions in it. and i've said "it" WAY too many times :heh: but, all-in-all, the DGX-620's an awesome choice imho. ^_^

noooo...Roland has better hammer action emulation than Yamaha. Just take your Yamaha apart, it does not have progressive hammer action, meaning the keys on the right side is not lighter than the left side. This is not real compared to a REAL upright.

But you already bought your Yamaha, so...I don't think you actually care, lol
Just buy a Roland if your Yamaha breaks :)
