Okay, so I am very new to this. Here is a little back story to this small piece. "Xylonia" is the name of a land I created in my head last year. This song was supposed to symbolize the Xylonians moving onto the battlefield where they're to fight the Aesthese, whom have come in to take over their land.

Some notes on the song itself: I do regret not having a mus file of it. This is the only one of my songs to survive when my computer crashed, and that's only because I saved it to a disk. However, I didn't save the mus file, so this is all that is left to my Xylonian music, sadly. Now, before you say it; I know that marches are normally written in 2/4 timing and this is in 4/4. This isn't your typical march. Other than that I don't have anything else to say, so I hope you enjoy my first mini-song.

EDIT: Forgot something. Windows Media Player always seems to want to cut off part of the first note in the song, so if you're using it, you may miss part of the first note.

lacks a melody, a bit random at times. The end does not feel like an end. It's probably not a good idea to use only flutes and trumpets where flutes is the melody and trumpet accompany because it won't sound quite "full". The timpani is too overpowering.

A good way that I found to see if your accompanyment and melody works or not is by extracting the parts and listening to them separately. If they still sound good and complete then it is good. (This does not work for all occasions)

Some wrong chords formed bad dissonance.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to this. While it wasn't really a "complete" song it still was open for critiques. I do agree with what you are saying. I'm just a beginner at this, so I know I'm not perfect. Oh, by the way thanks for the advice, I'll certainly give it a shot. Thanks again.
