I've finally learned a few decent pieces that aren't embarassingly easy that I've wanted to share with some distanced friends. Unfortunately, I don't have any equipment necessary to digitally record my performances and upload them to the net.

All I have is a webcam, which is fairly old, and my keyboard is not exactly sitting by the computer.

Does anyone have any recommendations for which products I should use for digital recording? Anything that would allow me to save it and upload to my computer is fine by me, but I don't even know where to start looking. Does anyone recommend a specific product or company line?

Thanks.

SONAR 5 (Program), an external soundcard-- EDIROL: audioCAPTURE and a RadioShack PRO mic is what I use.

Much thanks, Mazeppa. I've got a limited budget, but everything besides Sonar seems very doable at the moment. Thanks!

Does anybody upload their performances to YouTube regularly? I've been thinking about getting a video recorder to do recordings with, but, I believe those can be a bit expensive. :heh:

There's a free/shareware version of Sony ACID that has some nice mixing features, especially as far as free programs go. For something easier there's also Audacity (note that I've only edited music with this but there is a record function that I'm sure is quite straight forward).

Haha, *my* next step is to finally purchase a nice microphone.

I don't upload performances to YouTube ever... maybe I should be less shy ^_~

Ohhh...umm...can you move your keyboard??? Sorry, I don't know what pianists do..the only thing I know how to work is a violin pickup..

Over the summer I'll probably get some easy-showy pieces together and record myself. I'm gonna get a youtube account soon anyway. Just need school to let up a sinch.

And about the program--anything really. Just SONAR is the best one in my opinion.. :\

I do agree that SONAR is awesome. I downloaded a trial version a few weeks ago and I was impressed.

I doubt my family is going to want my keyboard sitting in the living room, so I'll likely wait 'till spring break and try to get some stuff recorded. I've tried recording before, but the little flashing red dot just gives me the jibbies. Something about recording just gets me nervous.
