Hi everyone,

I am going to a violin orchestra camp this summer and we are supposed to
come prepared with a solo violin piece. This camp is for intermidiate players and I am having a hard time finding the right solo piece. I have been playing violin for 5 years so I want somthing that will be somewhat of a challenge for me, shows ability( I have until the end of July to perfect it) and somthing that sounds nice being that I will be practicing it ALOT. I can also have a piano accompaniment but I don't have to. What does everyone else use for their solo's? If anyone has any suggestions for a good solo piece please let me know!!

Intermediate level? I'll say Concerto in A Minor or Concerto in D Minor, both by Vivaldi. Not too terribly difficult, but somewhat of a challenge. I played them in the Suzuki Books 4 and 5.

But I don't know what you mean by intermediate. Do you know how to shift yet? You'll have to go into 5th position to play those.

I know sisuki books< I think that is how u spell it> have good solo's and you can get different volumes/levels of the book so they range from beginner to professional.

I would agree that the vivaldi concertos in the suzuki books are good. If they are too easy, consider the Accolay concerto or czardas in the Solo for Young Violinists books. Those are pretty challenging though.

I think I might do the concerto in A minor by Vivaldi but I have to see what my teacher thinks of it first.

By intermediate I mean medium skill level.
Yes I do know how to shift so I should be able to do the concerto. It will just take some extra work. I have never really done much in the suzuki books.

If any one has any more suggestions I am always looking for good violin songs!
