i was just wondering wut mp3 players u guys think is the best...

i am considering the ipod, m3, iriver h120, and a new one coming out soon from sony...

out of these sony is the smallest... but it only plays atrac... which is a complete downer.... atrac has limited amount of bitrates and i thought with a 20 gig hdd i would be able to start recording 200+ bit/s...

http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/sc/30959614-2-300-overview-1.gif

the ipod seemed to be like the obivous choice... but i heard that the sound quality of the ipod is the worst out of all the hdd player in the market.. with just sucks in general...

n then the m3... sounds good... its smaller than the ipod (barely) and has a cool remote n stuff... it has bunch of more features than the ipod also.... like radio recording n stuff without the acessories...

http://www.jetaudio.com/images/products/m3/m3_photo_07.jpg

it looks good too imo..

n then the irivers... although they are the best mp3 player.... with best everything..

its just ugly....

http://www.iriver.com/images/product/500-7.jpg

so... i was just looking for input...

If the I-pod has such bad sound quality, then why is it the most popular MP3 player?

Its maybe the capacity of the hard drive

its not that bad...

but i've read multiple reviews that said the sound quality is noticably worse than the other popular hdd mp3 players...

most ppl probably won't care for this though...

most ppl like it for the design... i think... but i like the m3 design just as much if not more...

but the thing about the ipod is that its already at its 4th generation and the next upgrade might be smaller and better than the m3...

also... the ipod was the first really capable hdd mp3 player..

so it had a head start?? its like asking y the ps2 is the most popular when the gc and the xbox r technologically better....

Actually I think that was the Creative Nomad Jukebox, with a 3 GB harddrive.

the jukebox could barely be considered a portable player.....

it was HUGE..........

anyway... so im assuming angelic likes the ipod?....

n also about md's... 175 mb per disk is not nearly enough...

i carry around 6 disks with my md player n thats just over a gig...

n the new high md's.. shur they hold more than the ipod mini if u carry more than 4 disks... but to hell if im going to carry around like 15 disks....

im sorry.. but the md is dead...

I don't think the jukebox was bigger than a regular discman.. it was portable, no matter if it was a bit bigger than the other players or not.

LingXiaoyu
August 13th, 2004, 11:27 pm
really.. if u want to argue this further.....

the jukebox doesn't hold much against the cd player.. it was ugly, expensive, and not any smaller than the cd players....

it wasn't until the ipod that the portable cd players became obsolete...

the ipod looked better and held a lot more music........ didn't eat up batteries........

i really don't understand where ur trying to get with this...

A teacher of mine at school had an I-pod and showed it to us.. I thought the sound quality was pretty good actually, but of course that can depend on your earphones or whatever.
I haven't heard anything about the others though, heh. :heh:

Hmmm I-pod sound quality was pretty ok when i hear it but then again I don't own one ^^;;; To decide, its basically looking at the space, and the cost. If you want to fit a bajillion songs, I-pod would probably be the way to go? hence it has a lot of other random features like solitare o.O but if that sony one is cheaper, then get that one. Also have you seen and carried them in person? because I-pod is kinda heavy =/ I only have an I-River 128MB ;-; but would probably get an ipod if i could afford it :D

all of the above i was talking about each have 20 gigs..

i don't want to go below 20 gigs..

but at 40+ the players start getting too big...

the sony one is more expensive...

Hmm in that case i would go with I-pod, then second choice Sony. I think the I-pod has a better rep? plus if its cheaper than sony there are tons of nifty features with it. My iriver joystick broke -_- so i had to send it in and got a new one :D i was looking at that iaudio one...it looks confusing hence the cable with the display connected to the main player! confusing ;--;

I bought an mp3 player, and it just ate through my batteries. Small, but in the end, is your money worth it?

LingXiaoyu
August 14th, 2004, 02:40 am
umm..

all these have rechargable batteries most of the lithium ion...

but the iriver is lithium polymer..

are u suggesting that ppl should stick with cd players??...

......................

such technologicly behind ppl...

im so dissapointed...

n about wut anime freak said... thats a remote and thats standard for almost all kinds of players now...... didn't ur iriver have a remote?

dunno about iPods... they are very expensive, the only way to interface with it (I believe) is iTunes, and can only play iTunes-encoded files at 128kbps

Right now I use an in-dash mp3cd player in my car, and I put a 256MB card in my Treo to store a few tunes

Just stik to ur o'll fashioned 128MB/256MB/512MB/1GB pendrive - lookalike mp3 players (they're basicly sticks o.O) .. My err.. god knows what make 128MB Miracle Drive (lol.. mp3 + data files it can hold ^^ I love trojan horses on skool =X ) and seems to be fine. Sound quality depends on how good your earphones/headphones/semi-circular bio-mainframe neogenic yada yada yada .. - phone =X I got myself a cheap and nasty Phillips Semi Phone thingy (the ones that clip onto ur ear) .. sound quality is nice tho ^^ Just cant hear the bass very well, =X

Off Topic - I'm baackkk! Run for your lives =X Naruto The Movie comes out this week, and this forum will be burnnnnttt!!!

Yeah... It's sad that high reviews go out to the I-pod when it isn't that good... (_) I personally have no preferance (sp?) toward HD jukeboxes; though I'd go with the one that fits you best. One might sound better in your ears but it doesen't to someone else.

well i choose and ipod when i got rid on my md's the only 1 prob i see with it is the battery if u don't get a good garentee with it u'll have to send it back to apple to get it fixed or replaced which will cost £100-£200 which is shouldy

ipods are popular because they are well marketed and apple fans like to spread the hype. the sound quality is average and the earbuds that come with them are utter crap. of course, most people don't care that they don't have to spend twice as much for less storage and worse sound quality because they buy it to show it off, not for the sound.

personally, i like the iriver, but the creative zen (http://gradriel.com/Zen/Zen01.jpg) offers a better sound, especially paired with my shure's.

I use an RCA Lyra 64. 64K internal capacity, but interfaces with any size SanDisk SD (Secure Digital) or MMC (MultiMediaCard) Flash memory card and is Mac compatible. I generally record my music at the 96K bit-rate and can get 4-5 Symphonies on a 128K card. (I'm *still* trying to fill a 512K card!) My only major complaint is that it won't interface with LexarMedia cards.

ha! cheap chinese generic MP3 player all the way!
now seriously, sony brought out a new MD format--Hi-MD. honestly, i think its too little too late, but its worth a look. it holds several gigs IIRC, so if you have several disks, you could easily carry more music than an iPOD mini.

edit: has anyone considered the PSP? is it even worth it?

the fact that you have to use a memory stick as media storage is a major turn-off.

I have at moment creative muvo tx 256. I've had thought of buying a new one, maybe muvo v200 with 1GB capacity. Muvo players are brilliant because of their small size and considerable good sound quality. Any info, will those play drm-protected songs?

I have an iPod, I didnt get it because its popular, but because I use a Mac and it happened to be one of the VERY FEW Mp3 Players that are compatible with a Mac (That I know of, plus I personally liked the iPods. I have the 3rd Generation iPod, 15 GB. *Sinbios Zefiris Ark- I hate the iPod headphones too....they're annoying, and they sound different from regular headphones...
