Ah yay! I have a lvl 20 pve warrior/monk with knights armour [saving up for some 15k gladiators now]. I haven't been able to play recently, but in the past two months I've been playing a lot.

I only have Prophesies, going to get Eyes of the North when it comes out. What do you all have?



Pvp is pretty amazing. Pve is very good for an mmo-esque game, and theres an actual main story you follow, which is a great change of pace for all you MS players. Very good.

If you don't like dying a lot, don't become an elementalist second class. That's the worst combanation in regards to defense and HP. A Necro/Mesm are very effective in a party, but don't expect to win any battles on your own. Same if you take on monk as your second class. Warrior would be a good class, but then you're not a focused character.


I may start playing again if I can figure out how to use Cedega. :X

I think you should buy the original first (15 quid on Amazon.com). First start off with that, if you like it you can always get expansions later :)

The original is the most user friendly, but the learning curve isn't that bad for a vet mmo player [something on the lines of WoW though]. All of them are great, Prophecies has the basics, and both expansions have great new classes.

But if you plan on only getting one, get Factions. Most people get it because of the superior skills and great classes.

Huh...Well, maybe, if your playin GW and being a butt, instead of just for fun. ^^ All the groups i've been in have been quite happy with my assasin skills, not that its that important considering its just a meaningless online game. Games are for fun. Not for being cranky about loosing them.

I'm not a butt, I enjoy playing the game and Assassin's usually (99% of the time) do a poor job. If someone does a poor job it ruins the fun in the game, winning is fun. :mellow:

Winning isnt everything though ^^ And even though winning is fun, it is just a game, and i really dislike it when people get thier knickers in a twist when they lose. Its not really like they are loosing anything but a competition. The game can be fun without winning. People are just sore losers sometimes. And thats what ruins a game for me. I usually do well, 99% of the time, and people have to find another person to blame thier failure on. Its just a game.

You shouldn't buy Guild Wars second hand, because there is an account number linked to every copy of the software. You can't get a new one if you buy second hand, and the previous owner would therefore be able to get into your account.. or something, lol. Anyway, I think it's against the ToS.

Oh, i thought that the expansion would just be something you install on top of the original (i already have guild wars).

Ah well if i see it cheap i might get factions, but i guess i'll just have to make a character like a mesmer/ranger or something poor like that.

I believe that the current three versions of the game can be played stand-alone, and they have different focuses on PvE and PvP. There will be an expansion out in the future though.

Most of my Guild Necromancers were just Minion Masters and would zerg through everything.

Im a necro origonnally, but an SS....Not a Minion master. I don't like to babysitt the undead.

I kill things, though. Nicely. I only play me N/Me in groups (obviously) though.

A great way to earn some extra cash is to run people through different areas of the game. You can try farming solo builds but lately they haven't been the greatest since Guild Wars altered a lot of the skills to prevent abusers of farming.

I can't decide what class to be. Traditionaly i'd go for the ranger but they look pants. Magic looks strong but I tend to go off alone a lot so I need a surviver type :\

Going off on your own gets you killed :lol: a lvl 15 character won't stand a change against a group of lvl 12 monsters.

I'm a lvl 3 ranger/gu..gis..(the illusion guy) The spells seemed ideal as slowing a monster will let me shoot it dead before it attacks although most monsters so far have ranged attacks :\ but the sapping health and stuff will be useful hopefully.

EDIT: I went over the wall to the crowded place with all the mercinaries, merchants and guild people. Seing so many people searching for parties i'v decided that going solo will not be very smart. Anyone in that area?

You in post-searing? Then you probably mean the Great Northern wall. You can do team missions there.

I havn't played since but I clicked to start a quest that warns that you may not be able to return for a while. The NPC had a different icon over his head. Starting the quest put me in a party where there was a stage that was won as soon as it started then the party went to kill some charr and we arrived at the rubbish looking place. I'd done all over quests that I could find accept one where you need a party member to open a gate from above so that you can enter and find some ranger.

once you do the quest that warns you you wont be able to come back, means you're post searing AFAIK.

lol Minori: My sin uses a somewhat well known A/E solo farming build.. last time I checked it works pretty well. Also, with crit def and my guildmate bonding me, we can pretty much dual clear a lot of maps lol

Also, about classes, except for specialized builds for running/farming, there's no super good benefits from soloing except for slightly raised exp gain, and it's not worth it. From personal experience I would reccomend choosing a class that's welcomed in parties.. whether it's tank, spiker, mm, or healer etc, up to you. When I began I chose based on the armour art XD

I have full 15k and 1.5k luxon (all dyed red) on my sin, a mini kirin, 2 blk dyes and some runes + radiant insignias.. but other than that I don't have any good modded weaps or anything. Xd haha I'm so cheap.. the only weapons my sin use are Chimor's/Xuekaos which I'm capable of farming.

Even in this new place I don't need human help. Hired a fighter and healer to aid my quests. Had a necromancer join my little band for a quest against bandits and we seemed equal in fighting ability. He was like a little pet running round to pick up all the gold.

lol, yeah.. you can hench everything and almost all the missions. it's just more fun when you actually have party members to talk with o_o

Nope. All the money he has is what he earned. I left the game with about 40 gold but a decent stock of those forging item things, craft items maybe.

I haven't touched anything of Hantony's :)

My friend had an extra serial code lying around, so he gave it to me. I started playing yesterday. I had to put all the settings on low in order for my junk computer to even run it. When I have it on high, it looks so nice...but then after I take a few steps, the ground turns complete white. The grass graphics just disappear lol..

So far I like World of Warcraft better, but GW is alright I guess...

and so far, GW hates my computer xD
