Hello everyone,
I just composed this somewhat recently using Finale. I wanted to share this with everyone so that I may recieve some suggestions, comments, and for everyone else to play. The song is called: Life in F Major
So, of course, it is in the F Major key. If you would like to see me play it, just type in the title into Youtube.com:sweat: [link is in my sig. below]

Well, I hope you will all enjoy my composition.
I play this a lot faster than if you were to play it by clicking the "play" button on Finale. If you watched my video. I think I used
Quarter note = 92
I wasn't sure how to put that on the sheet music using Finale..

Well, here are some criticisms:

1.) You could've added some pedals into your score.
2.) The repetitious left hand arppegios got really tiring really quick, so yeah, variation is the key here.
3.) Watch out for your chords, they don't always match with your melody.
4.) You could've used a bigger variety of chords, repeating the same few chords gets really tiring.
5.) Your melody doesn't really stand out.
6.) Your ending is quite awkward with the subito forte chord.
7.) You do realize it's not in F major the way you wrote it, right?
8.) It kind of lacks musicality; I felt it just went blabbing on and on until the end, so you can improve by having more variation in atmosphere, melodies and harmonies.

Well, for a beginner piece, it's not horrible, but of course, it can be improved. Don't get discouraged though.

The phrase kept on repeating a bit too much (especially the bass part), and it should be in D Minor.

I liked the melody and the accomp, but as clarinetest and Sir. Dor said, it really tends to repeat itself, and the variations of the piece got a little.. "snorish" and dragged. Although, it does not go without any musicality, but a lot is lacking.

The parts which you should cherish is the measures around 48-54. I'm a big fan of keeping the same accomp. then usuing minor 7ths and major 7ths along with them. You might want to keep that in mind, but also not overuse them if you wish to use more sections like that for editations. This piece gets really boring after around 70 as well. You tend to hear everything over again, and the variations/kinda new melodies and accomps. just sound like you're bored.

Other than that, revise your score and pick out it's 'melodies' and other 'sections' then re-make this composition is my advice.

Good luck, and good try for a new composer.

This piece has some really nice parts to it, but a lot of it is very repetitive. Also, it doesn't sound major to me at all. I would try to find more ways of creating variation so to keep the listener more interested.

Edit:

After listening to the faster version, it seemed much less repetitive. However, I would still change the name to "Life in G Dorian". :P
