Ok ok ok. It seemed that every other Anime has their little thread so why not get one for this? ^_^

Who has seen this series? Who likes it? Who's your favourite character? etc etc

I'm currently up to Episode 17 and am just about to start the Manga. I am watching/reading both in Japanese without subtitles or translations. Am using this anime to help for my HSC Japanese Exam ^^

Anyway:

This is my favourite anime so far. Before Trigun took the charts for me but now FMA is probably on par or beyond my love for Trigun. I believe it is coming to Adult Swim very very soon (Early Nov 6th) for US and the dub looks alright I guess X_X Ed sounds weir-rd as.

It should be pretty damn obvious who my favourite character is :rolleyes: but for those who can't pick up subtle hints its Roy Mustang :D I also like Jean Havoc and I may possibly be the only one who likes Scar?? He is cool ^.^

Favourite episode so far was "Flame vs FullMetal" (I think thats what it was ^^) because it was pretty much the first time you got to see Roy in action an the fight was pretty exciting.

I&#39;m watching this series at the moment - am enjoying it a lot (up to episode 8 so far). I&#39;m an ex-chemistry student so I like the way they explain the alchemy using chemical reactions (e.g. Mustang modifying the oxygen content of the air to encourage ignition, etc.) I think the characters are very well written, though the Elric brothers seem a bit unjustified in their selfishness in the beginning episodes, though their motives become much clearer later on and their characters improve a great deal as they learn more about the principles involved in using alchemy and what it&#39;s right and not right to use it for.

I think the saddest episode I saw was the Chimera episode - it revealed a more tender side to Ed&#39;s character that doesn&#39;t really appear very often (well, so far, besides Barry the Chopper.) I love the "YOU&#39;RE CALLING ME MEGA-ULTRA-HYPER-SHORTY?&#33;?&#33;?&#33;?&#33;" chucking-a-wobbly scenes and watching the different character reactions to this outburst&#33; Really looking forward to seeing more - and trying to lay my hands on the soundtrack, if there is one, because I&#39;ve had that damn end tune going around in my head&#33; :)

OOOHH&#33;&#33;&#33; I saw, like, 10 mins, the last ten minutes of the 2nd ep at Animania, and i loved it&#33;&#33;&#33; I&#39;ll have to either force my little tanuki-slave (ie, one of my best friends) to download them all, or wait.....and wait.....and wait.....and WAIT for it to be realeased in Australia. It&#39;s so funny, and it has a good story and WWWWAAAAHHH&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33; (I think I just became a fangirl)

I&#39;v watched the first 15 episodes or so, and it really didn&#39;t pull me in as much as my friends said it would. -_- They praise it as one of the best anime in awhile, but I see nothing too special about it.

Only three eps too go. Too bad that at the end Alphonse becomes a bit annoying with the "omg i&#39;ts mother" stuff =_=&#39;

and I don&#39;t believe how bad Adult Swim&#39;s choice in opening themes is. I mean theyre gonna use that "Ready Steady Go" theme for ALL the episodes. Adult Swim recently started airing FMA...At first when I saw it, I loved it&#33; Then my bro began to download the subbed episodes, so I watched that for a while. After the 24th episode of the subbed version, I saw the 7th ep of the dubbed...Ed and Colonel Mustang&#39;s voice are the worst&#33; Riza and Al&#39;s are great&#33; Ok...Off the subject of the voices.

Lol, everyone has different tastes. I&#39;m fond of this style of anime, and it shows, but I like all different kinds. And I doubt there is a best anime ever...

waiting for the movie to come out ^^ it&#39;s a definate must-watch, seeing how the ending for the series wasn&#39;t really that conclusive. and yes, Roy was impressive, hehe, just like "Roy Mustang"&#39;s signature- the way he snaps his fingers to produce fire is very clever.

I am watchin the series on Adult Swim currently, and wow we are the same&#33;&#33; I loved Trigun too&#33;&#33; I have both the manga for it, and plan to get Maximum, but then FMA came along and I fell in love with it. I can&#39;t get the manga anywhere and I can&#39;t read Japanese (save for a few phrases and words..like ichigo :P ...err it -is- strawberry right?). But yes, before FMA Trigun was my favorite and now it is FMA, I love it to death... I went to an FMA website and downloaded a coupe songs, after a bit of research I found out one of them was by Evanesance (sp) wow Evanesance in an anime, who though? It was a really good song if you all want to listen to it it&#39;s called &#39;Field Of Innocence&#39; the other song I downloaded is really good too, I think it was by Secret Garden, it&#39;s called &#39;Gates of Dawn&#39; I&#39;ve only seen up to episode 8 (as far as Adult Swim has gotten), and I love em&#39; all ^__^

Wow, the ending was insanely good. I finished the entire series over two days and so I pieced everything together rather hastily. I didn&#39;t know what I was expecting at the end but I can say that I&#39;m really happy with it and my post will no progress into spoiler territory.

It was handled beautifully and the final scene where they lift their hands, I knew that wouldn&#39;t be the real end. </span>

OOOOOOHHHH my god I can not believe that I missed this thread I am absolutely crazy about thsi show and I keep messing up with my typing because I am typing way to fast. I bought it. It was relatively a good game since some games which are based out from movies usually suck on my account... I can say that FMA was pretty decent... though I don&#39;t like the Dubbed version of the characters... Subbed would&#39;ve been much better instead.

ANBU never completed it since it got licensed halfway, so maybe ANBU just got their info from a faulty website too? I love this show... it was brilliant just brilliant. This might have to be my most favorite anime to come.

When he was attatched to the armor, yes he was very young. Human voices get deeper because a person&#39;s vocal chords grow. Alphonse has no vocal chords anymore so his voice stays the same.

keh... (first i though the Al was a girl inside some sort of armor because of his "voice")... ... ... (But I found out after episode 2&#33;&#33;&#33; :heh: )

Yeah :) 51 is the last episode. There are some DVD&#39;s in Japan though that is disc 00 which have some nifty stuff on it, like trailers and interviews so maybe that could of led to some of the confusion, but as far as I am aware, it definetly ended at 51.

However, expect the movie to be arriving about halfway through the year. Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shambala will be premiering in Japan on 23rd July 2005. B)

I was watching the first epidsodes of Full Metal Alchemist this morning and I noticed a blooper, did anyone notice that it was Ed&#39;s opposite arm that was cut off, that is, his left arm and leg were cut off in one scene then in the very next scene his left arm was back on and his right arm was cut off...or something like that, I have a very bad memory but the blooper went along those lines.

I returned the DVD to my friend who I borrowed it from but my brother noticed it too without me telling him.

hmm... im not sure if i remember that, but i think me bro told me the same thing, but i never took notice... :heh:

Pride = the Fuhrer

Yes i noticed this too. They needed to give his arm back because Ed actually looses his arm binding Al&#39;s soul to the armor.

You&#39;ll want to get in quickly though. The Australian Release comes with a Limited Edition Tin Box to store the first 5 DVD&#39;s in. There will be three collectible Tin Boxes, Box 2 and 3 each will store 4 DVD&#39;s each.

The first tin will be limited to a print of 2,500 only. So yeah, you&#39;ll either want to get it order as soon as you can or get it from http://www.madman.com otherwise you won&#39;t have anything to put the dvds in once you collect em all XD

Almost all Madman DVD&#39;s come with bilingual audio settings, so you can hear both the dub and the original Japanese track with subtitles. ^_^ Fullmetal Alchemist does not differ from this at all.

just an update, the movie&#39;s japan release has been finalized. It&#39;s going to come out 2005-07-23. From what i heard, it will take place about 2 years after the series ended with a few extra scenes that occured during the series.

Shui Hu: yeah, but it will still be a long time before a good fansub hits the internet since more good groups will wait until the DVD of the movie comes out before they bother subbing it (not that in the movie theatre junk where u can see people walking around)

So the wait for us will probably be something like a year (as it was for the Naruto movie, FANTASTIC btw, but it was a long wait after the japan release)

I dislike Envy, Sloth and Wrath. Greed and Pride are okay. I really like Lust and Gluttony =P Especially lust, she&#39;s cool.

I felt Lust had the most depth out of all the Homunculi - Wrath was too shallow, Sloth didn&#39;t really have anything, Greed was too bad-guyish, Gluttony&#39;s alright but very single-focused and Envy didn&#39;t really show anything else besides bad-temperedness. Lust was a lot more subtle.

there&#39;s 1 thing im kinda confused about

You implied it the correct way, I still don&#39;t see your point really. IMO, anime is heaps better than manga (sound, music, colour) so I&#39;d rather invest money in anime than manga.

I too, personally enjoy anime more than manga. However, that isn`t to say that manga is not enjoyable. I would figure it would take about 20 minutes at the least for her to complete a manga book, and with that money she can buy a lot more than 52 books (well, if she does it by series.)

Therefore, since she could get more hours of enjoyment out of the manga, then she could with the anime, wouldn`t it make more sense to get the manga, and use those hours enjoying the manga to make the time feel shorter as you earn the money to get the anime? You seem to be looking at which is a better production, where as I am trying to see where she can get the most enjoyment for her money. I do not disagree with you in saying that anime, in my opinion as well, is better than manga. I do think, though, that she could derive a longer period of enjoyment from manga, thus it be more worth her money.

Might aswell never buy anime at all then but buy manga instead. Your logic is weird, really.

Angelic, my logic is honestly not that weird. I suggested the possibility of using manga to make the time feel faster as she saves for anime. What is so illogical about that? I do it all the time. I see an anime series or something that I know I will like, but wish to purchase it when I have enough money. So I buy some manga first, and by the time I finish the series, I have enough money to go get the anime. If I were to buy the anime first, then I would finish it quickly, and be bored until I had enough money for the manga.

I like Full Metal Alchemist it is a great anime and it has a good story line. :heh:
I enjoy seen it.

Episodes 27 and 28 showed at Anime Expo 2005 at an FMA screening panel. The voice actor for Edward and the voice actress for both Riza and Rose were there. Unfortunately, I didn&#39;t get their autographs because it would have taken too long with so many people ahead of me and I had other things to go to.

So not to spoil anything, I&#39;ll just say that both were about the brothers&#39; past with their teacher. At the end of 28 a new mysterious character shows up.

I just finished watching it. ;_;

Maes Hughes was my favourite character.
I found it weird, that when they took the D&D Alchemy book, and scratched out and replaced a few phrases, they were all cooking recipes. Same for the papers in the introduction when they talk about the law of alchemy (before the intro in almost every episode) and in a few other books.

Oh my God, I never stopped crying during "Mother" :cry: I started shaking when I saw the first four episodes, I laughed and cried too much and my body got confused and I ended up shaking, and laughing, and crying. I like Lust, she's funny. XD

this anime never really hooked me...I watched a few Eps so don't say I never gave it a try...but it just wasn't what I was looking for at the tym, so now I think it is kinda boring. or maybe it is because I've only seen it English Dubbed, and i hate English Dubbed anime, so I still have to see a Subbed ep.

I'm not exactly sure, but you could probably import the DVDs that have been released if Amazon or eBay ships to your area. If you know English well enough, that should be a pretty good solution.

FMA is SO good, I've seen all of the Anime. Its the best. But it made me cry quite bit. lol.

The best episode for comedy has to be Episode 37 - The Flame Alchemist. Its just to hillarous, evan if it has nothing to do with the story. Mustang, Hawkeye, Havoc and the others are best too funny.

Haven't read the manga. Is it. And I can't wait for the film, but I can't find it anywhere.

I'm currently up to Episode 17 and am just about to start the Manga. I am watching/reading both in Japanese without subtitles or translations. Am using this anime to help for my HSC Japanese Exam ^^

Anyway:

This is my favourite anime so far. Before Trigun took the charts for me but now FMA is probably on par or beyond my love for Trigun. I believe it is coming to Adult Swim very very soon (Early Nov 6th) for US and the dub looks alright I guess X_X Ed sounds weir-rd as.

It should be pretty damn obvious who my favourite character is :rolleyes: but for those who can't pick up subtle hints its Roy Mustang :D I also like Jean Havoc and I may possibly be the only one who likes Scar?? He is cool ^.^

Favourite episode so far was "Flame vs FullMetal" (I think thats what it was ^^) because it was pretty much the first time you got to see Roy in action an the fight was pretty exciting.

I love FMA. The whole thing is just so interesting. I think it does a rather good job of balancing humor with drama. It isn't really depression inducing like Eva (at least near the end) but it's not overly silly, either. It's also nice because it has an interesting and fairly sophisticated plot, but not one that leaves you confused (at least that I've seen so far).

I downloaded mine with Limewire. Maybe you could try that. The episode itself is more of a lead-in to the next one as it ends in a cliffhanger. Basically, though, Ed sends a letter to the military warning that Scar is planning to use them to make the philosopher's stone, the people of Lior begin to make their escape as the military appears in an attempt to make them surrender. Ed battles Wrath and Sloth and Wrath is highly vulnerable to Rose's baby's crying. The episode ends with him going after Rose in slow-mo.

Therefore If you live in America (or an american empire as your location denotes), I'm certain that it is illegal. Your choice if you want to download it. What you can do is buy the DVD and then download a Fansub of it, but most people download anime because it is 100% free (though most of it is not legal).

Well, I don't hold the law to be sacred. I'm not just the resident socialist, but the resident anarchist (against both capitalism and government).:heh: Let's face it, if I had the money to spend on all this anime, I wouldn't have much of a reason to be a socialist.

Well, I choose to watch FMA by Rapture TV, and by saving up to buy the DVDs, (which isn't going well), and I'm finding it perfectly satisfactory. But M is right, it is *illegal* to download it. =)

I'm up to... about 12, now? ^___^ It's really, really, good. Except it's only on once a week and repeated. :(

i dunno, the dub is passable, i guess, but Ed's voice doens't really sound right. Al's not bad though. But then again, the only time i actually have liked a dub is with Cowboy Bebop.

btw, the DVD release of the FMA movie in japan was today (or was that yesturday, they're a day ahead right?). SO hopefully there will be a good fansub soon. I've been holding out and not watching those CAM versions just so i can see it in it's full high qual glory.
