Art is not associated with the site though. It's about music and people tend to forget that. The forum is for everything really.

True, although people should realise this is in first place a music forum (even though I myself have nothing to do with that, lol) and that there's no need for Japanese talking ;) although recently, it's not as bad as it used to be.

I'm liking your idea btw Noir, hope you can work the details out with Gand, as he's the site man.

I know it's not associated, but a lot of people here enjoy art just as much and sometimes composing is a little hard. Maybe we could make multiple competitions for various things and just have different peopel set it up. Writing, composing, designing, and stuff. Just during certain weeks or months place emphasis on different contests and have each contest end on different weeks.

I think we should have some other types of skins for us to choose instead of blue and pink. I think we could have like another style or just another color would be fine with me.

@Toshihiko: No, this isn't an art, fanfic, designing forum or whatever so there won't be contests like that.

@Xetrox: blue and pink is just fine.

I was wondering: maybe as an ongoing project, we could develop an Ichigo's Piano Grade Level to mark each piece with. We could rank them from 1-10, indicating the number of years of piano experience the average person would need to be able to learn that piece without becoming frustrated. I think it'd be a really handy feature for people who are just starting out at the piano; I for one would probably have been extremely discouraged if I were in my first year of piano and decided that Tatakao Mono Tachi would be my first download...

This would, of course, have to be a group effort, and we'd want people from all different levels to participate, since you can most accurately judge the level you're currently at. Also, it'd probably be a good idea to have a couple different people review each piece to make sure they agree on the level...

Hey, I was just wondering if maybe there could be a thread for an art contest (I know it is mentioned above that this is not a fanfic site, etc.), but there are so many different threads on rating people's art, so why not just make one overall one where people can post their pics and there could be a poll to vote on them and others can post comments or suggestions? I dunno, I'm fairly new anyway (as the New Member icon says), so there might already be, just wondering if something like that would be okay?

^ This has been suggested numerous times before, and yeah.. it could be done. Just need one person in charge of everything. As long as they don't get posted on the main site I'm happy :P It's a muuuuuusic site ~

I could run one in the Art section if people want :P it sound fun. Bring it up to Angelic or Gand in a PM maybe?

(unless it has to be a mod that runs it)

Maybe, since it is a music site, to clarify that or just make it more visible, why not set up a small logo or something that demonstrates that it's based for music? I didn't really even know it was based for music until recently and I'm sure some people still don't.

Lots of people come from the http://ichigos.com so I'd hope they know it's a music site.

About the compositions page on the site (not the forum):

It needs to be updated. I know, I know -- we have a forum for that but I thought it would be nice if it would be updated! I mean, nearly all of those composers who are listed there are long gone, and we have a whole community of good composers here on our forums. My suggestion is that we make a system:

Each month, we have a composing contest. Each month is a new theme or form, and the winner could be posted on the main site for public display. As time goes, we'll have a lot of contest winners posted there for everyone to listen to. That way, we could encourage even more members to join the composing forum.
That's a really good idea. Would you mind collecting the winners from each month (theme, who won, and mp3/mid?) I can then get them up on the site.

Noir7
June 8th, 2006, 08:29 am
Sure, I can do that. It would also be nice if you made links to the composers' threads there also, for people who visit the site to come and comment.

yea, but some people just go straight to the forums without even going to http://www.ichigos.com/ or even if they do, probably don't pay attention to the actual site and just click on forums.

Okay, I'm really confused here and I hope someone can help me. The forum is an all-around forum right? and http://www.ichigos.com/ is the music site right?

Yea, that's kind of a good idea, just in case the members are getting bored of seeing the same colors everytime they log on.

You should be grateful that you have the choice to pick between blue and pink, other forums only have one skin.

yea, but people could still get bored by the colors especially if they've been a member for a long time now. im not really complaining, im just being honest and trying to speak for other people.

Would it be legal to stream Anime Movies online? Cause then we could have a Friday Night Movie Night for members only. Just a thought that popped into my mind just now.

RD
June 10th, 2006, 10:59 pm
I think it is. As long as you dont make money off of it.

Heres an idea : Lets just go to youtube. Really though, embedding a youtube anime movie onto the forums every friday night would be a good idea. You could easly just go and watch but its diffrent when your watching it on a site you know and like and "with" other people.

I like the idea.

Neko Koneko

Youtube is also not legal when it comes to broadcasting copyrighted anime.

i second this idea i quite like it. would mean work and involvement from those like al and noir who know what piano grades songs would be at

Noir7
June 12th, 2006, 04:49 pm
Lol, I know nothing about piano grades XD I can't even name all the chords!

Edit: Besides, it would be a lot of work for nothing really... it's pretty much up to the pianist to decide if he is able to play the piece or not.

Neko Koneko
June 12th, 2006, 10:45 pm
That would be a lot of work. First, you'd need to select 10 piano pieces that grow in difficulty with each one (although you could take a look at existing piano pieces for this I reckon) and then someone has to play it and be judged by, well, judges. At least three I'd say, to keep it all fair. So you'd need ten piano pieces and a bunch of people willing to judge. Then you need to set the criteria for each exam, as in how many mistakes is one allowed to make etc. I'm sure there's a lot more involved but these seem like the basics to me, hehe.

tanonev
June 13th, 2006, 04:57 am
Well, some people did compile lists of the pieces they're able to play. Maybe we could just have people list the pieces that they've learned recently, along with how long they've been playing and how much time they had to spend to learn each piece. If you're taking classical piano, you can also compare it in difficulty to those pieces. Like DDR feet ratings, it won't be very accurate, but it will give you a general sense of how much time you'll have to invest to learn a particular piece. It'll also give you a sense of accomplishment as you start moving on to harder pieces :)

more of a question than a suggestion but when is the main site going to be updated. or are we leaving all sheet music now for filled requests?

Noir7

It will be updated eventually.. it's just that there are so many transcriptions being sent in. And we do have a single admin who I'm sure has other things to do ^^

Lol, Ive been noticing a rise on the use of lazy typing (me?... maybe) but to make it so people know we have little tolerance before you sign up there could be a page that spacificly says you cannot use sloppy english. I mean a whole page of its own before you fill out your info to sign up.

What if we had a battle of the bands. We could select a piece and members can post recordings of their band playing that piece. We could have a poll then asking who had the best interpretation of the piece or something similar. It was just an Idea that came to mind durring work.

< noticed that anime section= crazy mess
older members (Mies) keeps having to link noobies to the exsiting threads...
I thought there used to be a search engine to look for threads. I don't thinks it's here anymore...
so suggestion~
search engine and bolder more noticeable intructions on making new threads~

In old ichigos there used to be a search button right at the end of each page, maybe putting the search engine in FAQ isn't obvious enough cause nobody uses it and goes crazy making new threads~

Paradox

there's a search button at the top of the page... i think the search thing in the faq is just for the faq, although I'm not sure... :heh:

PM's work faster, as do IM's. If there's an issue, it would be fastest to address it to a Mod or Admin with a very noticible subject for it's title.

I think it might be a good idea to put up a sticky in the Anime & Manga forum regarding the creation of threads that already exist. It seems to be happening a lot in there as of late.

Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to put a sticky for tech help inMusic Discussion where people can ask about any problems they're having with music software, for example, "How do I put repeats in Finale?" or "Is there a way to put snare rolls in Sibelius?" Stuff like that. Threads are popping up with those kinds of questions like wild-fire. Maybe even change the title of Composition Programs to include something about asking questions, so people would be prone to post them there?
