I just saw this movie. I have to say it beat my expectations by far. I got shivers when certain scenes were shown, just so.. fantastic sometimes.

According to a lot of people, it's cheesey when Cloud does his superman stuff and there's a lot of flying about, sounds fun.

It is a bit cliché, that's true. But that doesn't make it any less of a good movie. Kadaj is annoying though, and has a strange voice.

Watched it on Monday. It was awesome. The only problem I have is that Tifa kinda loses some awesomeness afer her fight with Loz.

The thing about searching for it on any BT site is that I can't trust if it's subbed or not and I don't want to wait a long time. :sweat:

well, i got a different version, which was the whole movie in one file instead of 2 or 3. hopefully, as i haven't watched it yet... how long is it?

Downloaded it the day I saw the torrent link up. I think the 12th or 13th (took a while for me download since there were only like 3 or 7 people uploading with some 3000 people downloading the file).

I thought it was pretty good actually. Then again when I think about it more, I wasn't sure what to expect except something awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it though. Reports say that it should be out in the US at the end of November (the 29th I think). I'm definitely buying it when it comes out.

I might end up watching it a good 2 to 3 times more before then though. :) Maybe not.

This is an amazing movie, just...wow. It looks beautiful, so does the action scenes.

I love the bit when Reno and Rude battle Loz and Yazoo I think it was.....looks too similar to Kadaj :S but anyway, that scene made me laugh so much. And when the entire group finally met up and helped eachother out, that was amazing.

Good job Square, very good job. I'm gona get this on DVD when it comes here anyway.

OMFG! This movie is the coolest! It totaly revived the FF movie carrier! FF: Spirits Within, in my opinion did not deserve the name Final Fantasy on it but Advent Children made me totaly forget about the mistake that Squaresoft made with that other one. It was pretty good. I was kind of annoyed with Kadaj and his little friends, though. "Mother" this "mother" that. XD I wanted so badly, even if it was just once, for them to say "mommy". Yuffie reminded me too much of Rikku (FFX). And Barret's facial expressions amused me :lol2:. Other than that it was pretty good :D

Edit: Another thing: Did Tifa's mannerisms (the way she swayed when she talked and her hand gestures mostly) remind anyone else of Yuna's?

By what a friend told me, they're taking long because they're running low on money making Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy XII, and others, and since they're gonna need to make A LOT OF COPIES of FF7: AC, they can't just publish it so soon.

Also, if you notice, nowadays when you buy Kindgom Hearts, the manual isn't even in color.

Well, considering they're a huge developer, it's not that strenuous to have multiple projects going at once. Besides, whatever is going on game development wise at Square Enix doesn't really affect anything considering they outsourced the creation of FFVII: AC.

After seeing AC I think that it's a very beautiful movie but is actually pretty bad. It felt like they had the story worked out for a 60 hour game and thought it would be a good plan to force it into a movie that's only a little over 2 hours. It also felt like they were throwing in all the old FFVII party members for the hell of it. The movie would have made exactly the same amount of sense had it just included Cloud, Tifa, Vincent and Aeris. The others made cameo appearances but were completely unneeded.

Still, as a piece of visual art just calling it impressive would be an understatement and it definitely does bring up strong nostalgia. It also had a few perfect moments of self-reference.

All re-prints has black and white manuals..except with FF VII, that still has color.

Agreed. A bit tedious to watch, only thing that caught on to me was the nostalgia.

I've already tried three torrents that had "ENGLISH SUBTITLES" on them. But none have actually had subs. <_<

The fighting scenes were really great too. They were just a bit too fast that sometimes I couldn't keep up. Anyways, the storyline was really interesting which pretty much glued me to my computer chair. xp It seemed short, but hey. Time flies when you're watching something you've waited years for. lol.
Speaking of waiting, When I looked on EBgames and Game Stop to see if they were selling the movie, [You know how they had the release dates at the end of the official trailer? Sept. 13 for US &Sept. 14 for Japan...] it said that they'll start selling it around January and somewhere around November if you pre-order it. 0.o? I panicked of course. But whatever. Thanks to my cousin for saving me 3.5 months of waiting. phew. ^^6

I just saw the movie out of curiosity. I have to agree that the graphical achievements made in this movie were absolutely amazing (I thoroughly enjoyed the ending where they placed a real backdrop with the CGI Cloud, that was damn convincing and impressive).

The story was lost on me, I didn't really understand what was going on, the direction the movie was taking. Perhaps its because I haven't played the original game since it first came out and clocked it, I most likely had forgotten some important plotlines in the game although there was a very brief retelling of the past events.

The camera panned to different angles way to much and way to fast for me to get a real feel of what was going on.

As Elite666 said. Most of the characters seemed to have just been shoved in for cameo purposes, Aeris and Sephiroth included. Why'd Sephiroth come back? Did Aeris really need to be included when Cloud blanked out? Yeah, all for fan purposes, but they really didn't need to be there. Even though I say that, I'm glad they were though.

I'm not really an FFVII enthusiast. Even though overall I enjoyed the movie, maybe the event was lost on me.

I like what a friend of mine said, "Why the hell did Sephiroth emerge because Kadaj got some damn piss on himself?? I'll never understand.."

Oh, I could have been much more negative in my brief review of it but there isn't going to be real debate about it. It's a movie made for FF enthusiasts and as such it succeeds. It wasn't ever meant to be an actual good movie, in fact it's not even significantly better than the Spirit's within. Both are beatiful, both suffer from severe story problems, I can't really say anything about acting but I'm not expecting much considering the story is woefully inadequate and that doesn't bode well for English dialogue.

Really, everyone who wants to see this could care less what it's like so long as they see the old characters kicking ass (which is funny because FF7 in amazing because of its excellent story). This is purely fanservice and as such succeeds brilliantly.

Of course, if the English translation turns out to be excellent and voice work it could turn out to be great this may turn into an adequate movie even. It will never be all that good but it could at least become more than a cash cow.

Note: Forgive me if something I said doesn't make sense. Shortly after I started writing I started having a migraine and now have trouble reading. I'll edit it tomorrow and hopefully be coherent.

honestly, i don't think that the graphics in AC are better than the ones in spirit within. If you watch that main female character in spirit within close up, you'll know what i mean, all the fine details are there, but i don't see those fine details in the silver hair men in AC (smooth flat faces), or any of the characters apart from the freckles on Cloud's face.

That's probably because the characters in AC aren't supposed to have 100% human appearance. It's more of an anime style rather than the very realistic characters in Sprits Within. But yeah, the characters were more detailed in Spirits Within, but I think everything else was better in AC.

One thing I didn't like about this film is the dynamic of the song. It was too soft. I mean when characters were battling I wanted to hear some Banging song (except for the Tifa fight). I don't know.... I guess that's just me.

I liked the arranged piano battle piece, but it felt awkward in that scene somehow.

Yes it was Bahamut, Kadaj used the Materia that was stolen from cloud to summon him and yes, it was using its Giga-flare or whatever Bahamut uses.

I got confused early in the movie when all his swords began to "Mysteriously" disappear. The final attack was cool though to say the least.

Elena was yelling Senpai, which means Teacher. Reno was piloting the Helicoptor and he was suppose to pick up Tseng and Elena who had Jenova's Neck (I think) and she was yelling because they were being attacked by Kadaj's group.

i thought they were killed by Kadaj? cuz they didnt show up when cloud was meeting with Rufus. but then again, they showed up at the end.

I hated the music in this one...If felt....I don't know. I just found that it set the wrong atmosphere for me. I was actually REALLY surprised though. I usually love Squares music :(

It would have been so much better if it would be an arranged rock version of it instead. Piano could be in it, but not a piano solo.

Omg i was gobsmacked i knew it would be good but never dreamt it would be that good. i had shivers whilst watching the whole thing and the music remixes was amazing especially the normal battle music. that has just became my favorite movie of all time

i think they picked out that as a piano solo because the battle is happening inside of a church. I also think it was because Tifa is a female character. I'm sure they would have played the heavy metal rock style if Cloud or any of the male characters was fighting. (perhaps even Yuffie since she's kinda punky)

I must have watched this movie about 5 times now :heh: @_@ , Anyhow, there are some great musical scores in this movie, and the animation is unreal.

finally watched it, the action scenes are well done and excellent, and the music was amazing

That was class, the whole room went silent as people recognised the music and then it burst out laughing.
Personaly I liked it, it was a final wrap up of clouds story, althought its a shame that a few times in the summon fight the quality of barrents face seemed to reduce while the flare attack was shining on his skin.

I couldn't believe how good Advent Children was. Its was freakin great.

after watching the movie, i have a urge to play the game, after suffering through like 2 minutes of it, i finally got sick of its graphics so i went back and watched the movie again. XD

I would like to say, the anti-gravitational thing is better than anti-gravitational thing featuring in real life movies. I was probably idoling the graphics for the whole movie. In my opinion this movie changed my view about FF. For the good? hm..i don't know but anyone felt the same way? like you were never interested in FF, but after you watched the movie you felt like you WANT to talk about it , and you WANT to play the game?

FFVII A.C was SO COOL.The part were Reno hits Rude in the face always makes me lol.

The part when sephiroth comes was the coolest part, the fight with tifa and loz was awesome...the movie was awesome!!!!

the cellphone ringtone annoyed me a bit though.

I don't know how many times i watched it but couple scenes i watched it like 7-8 times because i was trying to get a good snapshot or screenshot of it

I just have a lot of time because i work efficiently, and that also contribute to the fact that sometimes i do have no life. I don't know, sometimes i get really amazed at how well the graphics can be.

Exactly, I'll probably only see it one time. I never had a chance to get into FF7 because I didn't have the proper system for it. That's one thing I liked about the movie; it had a short synopsis of the game. I didn't get lost in the story.

I personally just like the cg animation they do. It would be nice to have a few more movies with that style.

for those people that want the movie, you can use a downloading program such as "limewire" to download it. it took me a nite to get the whole movie!!

after you get the movie, you might not be able to play it on any player (WMP) because it's missing a codec thingy. just look up codec on google, and click on the first link and downlaod the codec thing from there, THEN YOU WATCH THE MOVIE!!!:lol:

FF7 AC is a awesome movie. ^^ I loved every second of it. Gj SE! Probably one of my most favorite movies. The long wait was well worth the fruits of labor. And angelic give a little slack on the reli bad speilers prz =P . lol

Bah, because you havent studied old versions of English in English class yet. Read some documents like the decloration or somthing of that sort and you will know.

i find it unfair cloud has all the cool moves like climhazzard and omnislash, while spehiroth ahs nothing, except that supernova attack which he doesnt even use in advent children. all that sephiroth uses is his amazing swordsmanship.

Think of it this way: Sephiroth has mad skills because he doesn't need to moves Cloud has.

but if sephiroth were to learn a skill like omnislash, clud would be x_x

but of course, there would be no story if that was the case.

EDIT: is it just me, or did the attack Cloud use to defeat Bahamut look like Climhazzard?

OR you could think of it this way: Sephiroth is the weakest boss because in the ff7 storyline, he gets killed by a level 1 cloud before the game even begins!

also, it contradicts itself, for later in the game, cloud gets owned by a high lvl dragon, while sephiroth kills it with one attack.

I found it very stupid that the President was still alive. Plus sephiroth got off easy because Cloud didnt even have matria equiped if some he would had OWNED sephiroth.

well, in hte movie, they use the materia by absorbing it, not placing it in tehir weapons.

AC RAWKED! This has to be one of the best 3-D Animated films I have seen recently.

The story line is moot, if anyone bothered to keep track of what was going on overall.

Animation and graphics where top-notch though.

My only concern was the scene transitions. Where they kept flashing back and forth a little to fast for a person to settle. My dad litterally said "what the hell is going on?".

Course most people where going OMG LOOK AT ZE PRETTY PICTURES, to notice.

at the end, whn kadaj and yazoo were about dead, the had mad materia in them...

It was overrated by the japanese gaming community, not very good story (from a cinematic precepective, but a GREAT 3D rendering).

I think its like a 3/5. 5 being awesome.

Personally I quite liked the story but the fight scenes are the best.

My dvd of advent children arrived yesterday, yay for play.com
all nice and new.

Its alot nicer watching it on a dvd player than one of the downloaded files you can get.

I got mine last Thurday, yay for working in a video store where the owner is your friend! I must say, Advent Children is better than the Spirits Within.

Spirits whithin had nothing to do with the origonal Final Fantasy ... i think... ^_^

i really don't like kadajs voice on the english dvd, the japanese version was much cooler. yazoo has a crap voice as well. <_<

But remmeber; great effort went into this movie so they deserve a pat on the back no matter what. But I'll go that extra step and give them a poke in the ribs: :poke:
