So I'm taking Art History this Summer semester, the course covers art from the Renaissance all the way to Modern Art. I just bought the textbook and according to my weighing scale and my bank account, 600 years of Art History weighs 10 pounds and costs $200 =_=

Yeah, I reformatted my computer a few weeks back, and never reinstalled MSN, since I've been busy drawing and programming and shit anyway. I'll reinstall it tomorrow, though!

Anyway, pretty happy right now. Slowly but surely finishing my game, thanks to my new and improved "work on it a little every day" attitude. It's working out much better than my old "work on it once a year" attitude, so far. ONWARD, TO MY BRIGHT AND SHINING FUTURE! >=D

That's how it's looking for me. This sem's textbooks are expensive and the majority of them are new editions (which essentially means they fixed mistakes they didn't catch the first, second (or third) time) even if the earlier editions would work just fine, the professors INSIST we have the newest one...case in point, my Psych book is the 3rd edition and I planned on using my brother's 2nd edition. The only difference I found would be formatting and page difference. If I kept using the 2nd edition, I'd only have minor inconveniences stemming from page numbers and such.

I'm not sure about the five reps thing...I think it's best to go around eight, at least. I try to do ten before I move up in weight. Are you just starting out? You'll probably bump up the weight a lot in the first few months, so get ready to feel awesome. XD

Keep in mind I have no idea what I'm talking about, and I'm only lifting the way I see other people lift, lol. You may or may not actually want to drop the weight to do more reps. Ask your doctor before starting any exercise program. I am not responsible for any injuries you may cause yourself trying to do twice as many reps next time you go to the gym. [/legal stuff]

Ah, I knew the first part, but I thought the range was more limited. Eg, 8 was the lower side, for strength, 12 was the higher side, for tone, and ten was right in the middle...
Actually, I've done up to fifteen reps on some things, and I've gone down to six a few times on others, now that I think about it...

I still do almost everything 8-12 reps, though. I wouldn't want strength without endurance, and I wouldn't want endurance without strength. X3

if you wanna go for tone you wanna be doing reps of 20. if i go for tone then i'll do 15-20 reps on 50-60kg if i go for strength then i warm up on 10 reps of 70kg (bench) then keep upping the weight till i get to like 2 reps on 110kg. ive yet to see how much i can do on dead lift though. keep up the work mate you'll get there in no time. i need to get ready for gym myself will be leavin in 15 mins

They'll definitely say something like "you'll get 1% of the profits when we're done! By our esteemed financial branch's calculations, that should be around one trillion dollars!" XD

Nah, it's just my personal assertion of the company. It seems like they're a startup which originated from University funds and don't know how to properly run a business. Once the University's charity runs out, they'll die. Heck, they're a game site, but yet they're fully corporate in artistic style. They have the classic misspellings of those whom rush things, and also did not think through who exactly they wanted for the artist position. Essentially, it's a group of immature students that thought that classic games would sell on the internet and they wanted a graphic artist to pile tasks on.

Being a project manager, computer scientist, and researcher, these kinds of things should be done within a university rather than through outreach programs, as it makes their university look terrible and ruins their own personal image for future employment. Just from reviewing the content they've provided, I already have burned their names into my head and if I ever come across them when I start hiring people, I will immediately throw their resume out the window. Their rushing to form a business has ruined them before they even got started.

I don't think they're funded by their university, either. It's just something they're doing themselves. They started four years ago, which would make the younger brother fifteen at the time. They already had their first game out by then, and while it's laughably terrible (so-bad-that-it's-good, even), it's at least finished. And I've liked how you've been checking our postings (I know you've logged in at least once after I made the posting about the public website) and have ignored just about every request we have given you under the pretense of "We need more artists!!!@#!#!#!".

In case you've never noticed, most scenarios for VNs have the same number of writers as primary characters. But instead there's just me, and I have yet to moan or bitch about it outside the fact that things are going very slow due to me having to manifest about nine back-stories, four magic systems, and about five societies in addition to making it related to what we discussed in those meetings you chose not to attend. Heck, I think I'm now going to start :D

So am I feeling "angerjealousyfrustration"? Quite substantially considering all the above and the complaceny to complete even the simplest of tasks. We pointed to you when it became time to come up with a logo, and you simply sat back and watched others do work, being the critic. Then, we asked you to draw up characters based off of the profiles we discussed, which never happened. I even ask for something as basic as drawing a Coat of Arms and a website mockup, and we've still had less than a howdy-do from ya. So I'm quite angerjealousyfrustration. Especially since I've contributed more art to this project than the graphic artist we have on board; instead of managing a website, being a voice talent, writing the primary and secondary scenarios, backstories, and world, managing distributive data, researching licensing schemes, AND writing a game engine to drive everything. Yep. We need more artists (Why do I feel like the otaku from Welcome to NHK right now? God damn it Toshi, it became true!!). So I'm a bit lost in all of this. How could a Computer Scientist whom was engulfed in two capstone courses that took over 60 hours a week on top of a 40 hour a week job was able to still work on this, whereas you do not have a single class, and, for as far as I can tell, are goofing off playing baseball and video games, and then bring up something as ludicrous as jumping ship and ranting about the lack of production from Lycoris Studio. I don't like cracking down on people, but at times like these, you see a person's true colors.

And let's face it, given their recruitment article posted above, they can't be too serious about things. Hell, both Dreamweaver and FrontPag-- Er, Sharepoint have built in spell checkers. Everyone knows to press F7 at least once before turning in a term paper, so why wouldn't they do so for an application form? I've been checking them less and less frequently. It's always the same comedic "let's do something....sometime.....guys," anyway. Which was funny for the first year or so, but it's been getting staler and staler. I do, however, respond whenever I see fit, which is, as you said, usually to say "hey, guys, maybe you should find an artist to draw you things," since obviously, I'm not really doing anything for you. You letting the project pitiably crawl about like this for a year with no working artist on board shows how poor of a "project manager" you are. I "joined" the group under a "maybe I'll help you, maybe I won't" agreement, and only even agreed to that because I consider you, Porsche, and the few others we had on board to be decent enough guys. It turns out I don't have the talent to create art as effortlessly as I'd thought, so I'm obviously not helping you. That's no fault of mine. You're at fault for not finding another artist.

To be honest, the "quality" of your writings is the second thing that convinced me this "project" was DOA. The first thing being the quality of my drawings, obviously. ;)

Ah, showing your greatest talent here: Making a lot of nothing sound impressive - I still haven't seen that "omg five thousand page design doc adhering to mxc 2.1, sol 2.512a, and dmak 2.4ha standards" for that god damned 2D pool game you're working on. I can only imagine this is because the design doc is either a hell of a lot less impressive than you'd like it to sound, or a ton of bullshit fluff that any sane person would laugh at. Those tasks you listed in my last quote are the same way, I'm sure. Drawing a few characters out of the fifty needed for a VN would take more time than all the *USEFUL* work you've contributed over the past YEAR. So yes, you guys still do need a few more artists than you've planned on, no matter how much you try to fluff up your own work. Really, the only two guys who have contributed anything to the project so far are Porsche and BigZeni, with their compositions.

I just explained half of it to you in my above paragraph. It's easy to work on something when your "work" is a bunch of bullshit. I explained the other half of it in an even earlier paragraph, but I'll repeat it once more for you, since this seems to be a concept you're having a hard time understanding. Are you dense, or are you just trying to be obtuse now? Obviously I won't be joining them, either - they're only marginally better than you! I only wanted to see what their payment plans were, which is what I asked them for in my email. Obviously their answer will be "no payment," but the curiosity was killing me. =)

Anyway, sorry to Porsche, Toshi, Zeni, Azn, and any of the other cool dudes on our team that I'm missing right now for some reason. I tentatively "joined" the project a year ago to feel things out, and maybe provide some art and encouragement towards the beginning, planning to stay on board if things were looking good. Because of M's writing and "management," however, things looked pretty bad to me, and I hung around less and less, leaving us here. No hard feelings, I hope. I'm slowly building my own game right now, which seems like a less risky endeavor to me. I was planning on handing over the engine code to you guys when I was done, since I figured it'd be a decent help, since you guys were talking about needing animations and textboxes and such, which I'll also be needing for my current project. If my engine ends up suiting a VN, I may still hand it over to you guys, though you can "officially" count me off the team now, if that suits you. Thanks for the idea, M. You'd mentioned translating anime was a good way to strengthen one's Japanese awhile back. Seems like a sold idea to me, so I'm going to go ahead and translate this book, since I haven't worked on my Japanese in forever.

Except I'm not just translating it! I have a sketchpad that has pages that are basically the same size as the pages in the book, so I'm redrawing all the pages I translate (very quickly!) as I translate them, and I'm sticking my redrawn pages in between the regular pages. Art and Japanese practice all in one! Super awesome! XD

Japanese music is so much more creative and better than all this western stuff that everyone listens to over here.

And on that note, just finished watching Haibane Renmei. Fabulous show, definitely another to slot into my "best anime of all time list". Also went out and immediately bought the soundtrack :lol: And finally got myself 2 of the Serial Experiments Lain soundtracks. Incredible music on both animes.

There are some quite good ones on the soundtrack; most of it is industrial/techno and some are kind of rubbish, but there are a few really good alternative ones and ones that don't fit any genera I know of, and even a blues track as well. Now, I only have to track down the third Lain soundtrack.......

I do love industrial music though, so I'm partially biased towards it :heh: And the fact that its so different is why I like it also. The OP was brilliant though.

I'm still yet to buy the Clannad soundtrack though.......(why are anime OST's so expensive :()
