Bought Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. I went to EB games altona gate, eb games highpoint, eb games chadstone, gametraders chadstone, eb games westfield doncaster and FINALLY found it at gametraders highpoint. They only had ONE in stock.

That's mostly true. It still needs to be voted on, but pretty much all parties have agreed to the proposal, save a few words. Once the voting on Wednesday is done, it'll officially be a law. Nah, Ippo is manly and works really hard. Those are two things old Japanese politicians like. The ban will be attacking things like Ore no Imouto, Queen's Blade, HSotD, and such. Most of the stuff I enjoy won't be directly affected, but some (Ore no Imouto) definitely will, and a lot of things I do enjoy will probably play things a bit safer than usual, which is no good either. I don't want interesting stories being fucked up because of this ban...things like NHK and Genshiken may not have showed up in the market at all if this ban had been in place earlier, because they're both pushing the line this ban is trying to paint, even though they're both pushing the line for great reasons (interesting characters and story). It's a sad day for anime when this passes, because a lot of the garbage (Bleach, Naruto, etc) will keep going just fine, while things like Higurashi, NHK, Genshiken, Imouto, and shows like them will likely either be toned down (read: ruined), or totally canceled.

Yay! Finally managed to get my 3rd monitor back from mum. :) 3 Monitors are so awesome.

Also a word of warning for any ATI users out there with a HD series card. Don't download the new 10-12 drivers with the new catalyst (2) menu. If you're running overdrive, your monitor's will try to give you an epileptic fit before pixelating everything and then crashing. @_@

My ATI card alway scrashes on overload anyway, No download or update since 2006 has ever cured it. But then it was always a cheap laptop to begin with.

If you've overclocked it, don't. Download the latest drivers, go into the CCC (Catalyst Control Centre) and turn off overdrive. If that doesn't work you way want to re-enable overdrive and underclock your GPU. Also you might need a 3rd party GPU cooler if its overheating. I know my old Nvidia 8600GTS used to overheat a lot causing discolouration and sometimes crashes; so I just bought a cheap $20 GPU cooler. Fixed the issue right away.

Although it is a laptop though and although I love ATI, their old laptop cards weren't exactly top notch. :\

Hahah, just found the early nineties arcade game Out Zone on an emulator. Back when I was a kid, we used to have the arcade cabinet in our house (along with one other one I forget the name of). Anyway, it's a fucking badass game in the same vein as contra or metal slug, but it's top down. Made by the same awesome guys that brought us Zero Wing, Toaplan. No console, as far as I know. I think they only made it for arcades, so if you want to play it, you'd have to use an arcade emulator like MAME or something. I'm not sure how legal that is, though. The game could be freeware by now, but I'm not sure. Definitely worth playing, though!

I know what you mean. My best friend quite likes anime and draws a bit but she's only watched what's been shown on TV. So basically Death Note and Naruto. Everyone else around here goes, "Anime? Cartoons right? Those are weird and are for kids though." I've given up trying to explain to everyone else. :\


On a side note, it appears I randomly fell asleep for about an hour today. Was watching Scrap Heap Challenge and then out of nowhere I remember waking up. It's attractive, charming, easy to relate to, has just the right amount of flexibility and just the right length for... pretty much anyone.

I'd suggest Tsukihime if you haven't seen the anime yet.

You could buy the proper Japanese version and see if you could find an English patch for it. That's what I do, so far everything has run fine. You might need AppLocale (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=8c4e8e0d-45d1-4d9b-b7c0-8430c1ac89ab&displaylang=en) to run it though.

You could also just try downloading it again. Some of the files may have just been corrupted during the download or extraction if they were compressed (eg. a .rar or a .zip folder).

Kanon is also quite good I think. Both visual novels are stylistically fairly representative of what you can typically expect from a good visual novel that's been localized.

You might also want to find the replacement soundtracks, since the original soundtrack for the game was really low quality and gets repetitive. I used Little Wing's 7th Moon album's Track #7, and the rest from Ever After reproduction album. Made a huge difference.

I'm yet to get a "bad" ending for any visual novel I've played/read. I always end up getting the true/good ending first time, so far I've never replayed any visual novel for I just like leaving it at the ending that I get (getting the true ending is always nice though, so I don't want to change it :heh:).

Also if you still end up having trouble with the versions, check out the Applocale link I posted a while back, that general helps with the running of things and compatibility so you can tweak it how you want (resolution and stability as such).

Well, since I'm struggling a bit with my finances this month my boss allows me to work from home a few days this week (saves about 13 euros a day on fuel). I'm actually considering putting an old computer under my desk to run Windows XP (just in case I might ever need it - actually my printer/scanner doesn't work well with Linux).

The work laptop is in its bag right now though, since I have to go to the office tomorrow. After that two days working from home again and hopefully maybe a few days again next week, though that's unlikely right now. Ayway, currently my old HP laptop is taking the place of the work laptop as I plan to use skype tonight and my other laptop won't recognise any USB microphone I connect to it. Also gonna install some virtual machines on it to mess about in Windows server 2003. Actually I believe they could get prosecuted (here in Australia anyway). Since I'm pretty sure some guy got arrested a few years ago for possessing pictures he drew himself of children. Also I recall that another man got arrested for importing manga from Japan which had some similar content.

This ranges all mediums (though, the Nabokov novel Lolita for some odd reason isn't banned; and that's overtly sexual in nature). In addition to this, there is no exceptions clause for those that "Didn't know the age".

The major issue with this philosophy in America is that many under age girls appear to be of age. Similarly, there are several older-aged women that look younger than stature, but are actually over age. Both of these cases are classified as pædophilia.

It's not like they choose to be sexually attracted to children. It's kind of like myself, I'm transgender but did I choose to be born this way? No, I think not, I just 'am'. Helping these people rather than vilifying them, so that they could control their urges is the right thing to do by society. Do we just cast out people with mental problems and don't even see the world the same as we do? No, so why should we cast out people with simply a different sexual preference. The same can be said about everyone who is "different".

It isn't like paedophiles are just creepy old men either. When the police came to my school 'x' number of years ago, a kid asked why are they always creepy old men? Simple, they're not. One of the officers told us about a case where they had to arrest a young mother for child molestation charges.

I've actually had quite a few discussions on this subject recently because in the Netherlands, there's a huge child molestation case in Amsterdam where a man abused several kids (younger than 5) in the daycare place where he worked. True true, it's similar to how homosexuality was back then. I think it's because of the overly "let's protect the innocence of children" thing...if people really know how kids act these days (ie. being sexually active by the age of 14 (youngest I've ever heard was about 12-13 years old)), they'll realize there IS nothing to protect anymore XD

And I think pedophilia will slowly become more and more accepted. The internet's going to help that, I think. Same with any other sort of maligned minority that'd usually be too afraid to speak up. Anonymity is a good thing, sometimes. Besides, gays are accepted now, and they're aiming at the completely "wrong" gender. Tsk, tsk. I just went over this, silly. Without knowing the number of actual pedos out there, it's impossible to make a judgment about the percentage of them are actually rapists/molestors. The only reason such negative connections to pedophilia exist is because we hear about virtually no pedophiles, except the ones who rape/molest, because there's such a negative connection to the group that no sane member of said group would ever admit to being a card carrying member of the pedobear fan club. For all you (and I) know, 999.99% of pedophiles out there are the good kind you mentioned, who would never think of actually molesting a child. Yeah that's enough of this talk. You don't want your uncle Han going on about his childhood sex stories that he remembers from as young as 4 years of age.
Now lets all go purchase/sharpen our katanas and go vigilante some criminals.

You also have to look at how society has changed. For example, look about 800 years ago and having feelings for a 14 year old was normal, that be it, most were getting married at that age. As soon as someone hit puberty, they were considered eligible for marriage. With that in mind you'd even have 12 year old children getting married and having relations with much older people. But that was fairly normal.

Also look at the legal sexual age for countries. For example in Australia, I think its something like 14-15 can have sex, 16-17, then 18+. I'm fairly sure its just 16+ for Britain and I'm not sure about America. For Belgium its 14+, for Mexico its 12+. So when you consider that as a legal age for sexual activity, the idea of a pedophile in those countries gets restricted to a smaller group. So if a 20 year old man has sex with a 16 year old girl, he's a pedophile in Australia; however he's just another guy in Mexico.

That stuff about parents trying to protect their kids is kind of rubbish. I remember in primary school (12 years old and under) everyone knew what sex was. And most of us by the time of 11 or 12 had a sure idea of ourselves and decision making (some earlier even, and some later). I even remember knowing about sex when I was like 6. No idea where I heard it from, but when you consider that all of us knew that, and most of us are your everyday group of people, its not that damaging.

While the trauma of rape/molestation would be a different matter, what I'm trying to say is that children are pretty aware of what goes on. Society has to wake up and accept things that have already happened.

There's also that factor of the natural instinct. If a child hits puberty at say 10 years old (no, that is definitely not an overstatement), your body is going to say they're right for reproducing. Its our conscious thought, morals and society that have fought against the instinct and called it "wrong".



Now I'm not saying that we shouldn't give a damn and just let things happen, nor do I support paedophiles; but I could accept why they have those feelings, and accept them as everyday people. Its much like me respecting a priest, no I don't believe in your religion, but do I still respect you, yes. Do I still appreciate you as a person, of course.

I remember back in high school I knew someone with this interest. His uncle was/is a pedophilia. I am not aware if he committed any kind of sexual act, but what I was told he had a collection of children porn. And he kind of trade different types of porn with this guy from the high school. I once almost become the food of a possible pedophile or killer or whatever was his intention. I was walking back to home from school and a man in a car was trying to play mind games with me for me to get in his car. He even offer me if I would like to earn some good money. The worse is, that event happened in front of my house. At least he did not see me going in the house. x_x

I don't know how protecting your own kids is kind of rubbish. If you mean not letting them know about sex, then yes, that is ridiculous. I think the best is to talk about sex from very early ages and let them understand it. (Cite Sexologist/Psychologist/Family Therapist Alvarez for good references). About decision making, I think kids should not be having sex. If the girl fall pregnant, the responsibility will be of her parents. The girl or boy still have an ignorant mentally and economically are screw to maintain a baby.
