I'd love to show my Linux desktop if only I could get my damn wireless card to work under it. Why is it so fucking hard to connect to a freakin' wireless network. Ubuntu could do it with the same network card, why can't Suse? x_X </rant>

Yeah, the only real solution for wireless cards on linux is ndiswrapper, but I think you've already solved it (as per your closing statement you sent me via MSN).

Ubuntu just recognised the wlan card I have (some cheap ass sagem thing but hey, it works). Then Suse appeared to recognise the card, mentioned something of a firmware, then didn't let me connect. This was mostly due to the fact there was no wireless network detection tool or something. I had to go to Yast > network config, manually add my Plodnet there with the WPA key, and then reboot, and suddenly it worked. Yay.

Now I need to find a nice wallpaper for that desktop, but since I'm getting a new monitor this weekend, I'll wait with posting desktops :P

Actually, windows does not have a screen capture program. It has the ability to capture a desktop to clipboard, in which you need to paste it in a canvas aware program (such as word or paint) and then save it in a format that canvas supports (basically all image formats).

On macs, you actually have a program designed explicitly for this task.

It IS a H-game Gotank... what are you doing playing a H-game?

Utaware is kinda different from the stereotypical galge (in fact, most games produced today don't fit the stereotype). It actually has a simple turn base strategy game integrated into the visual novel.

Ha... simplistic, yet impossibly difficult. It's not like advance wars or something, where you have to come up with a better strategy to win, this is just like... you have to keep replaying the level until your character levels are high enough, or hope that the computer makes some stupid mistake.... I heard the PS2 port of the game added some character specific abilities that made it more... strategic.

@Infinity - Meh... Kanon and F/SN are both eroges as well, but that doesn't detract from their amazing story. Utawareumono was actually pretty good in hindsight. The fantasy element in the story was much better explained than it was in the anime at least.

On another note... Clannad and Kanon's translation will be done soon. Yay!

Vista is awesome. There I've said it.

It uses 1.1gb with all programs open (out of my 4gb), no problems whatsoever in any case, it's snappy and it's like "it just works" without the numbed down overpriced Apple nonsense (Q6600, aftermarket cooler (20$) OC'd to 3ghz, 4gb of 800mhz 4-4-4-12 Corsair ram and 1.5tb of HDD space, and a 9600GT (going to upgrade soon). Total price? 900$. That was with shipping and taxes)

That sounds like a nice system. I've tweaked my Vista a bit yesterday (disabling unneccesary services) and it uses about 850 megs after boot. The high memory use of Vista is mostly because of cache and prefetch though, I've seen a video of Vista running smoothly on a P3-733 with 512 MB RAM, and it used only 200 MB or so. That was awesome :')

Let me first state that I don't like Macs at all. Let me also state that this was over-the-top and posted just to stimulate a flame and therefore will not be respected. Operating systems are like flavors of ice cream. Some people have a favorite, some hate certain flavors, others like traits of each.

An example of cost equivalence is that Macintosh systems are delivered with a lot of software to boot. Windows? You'll have to buy product X and product Y just to get it working in a windows purist environment. Macs? It comes with just about everything. There's your price difference.

As for hardware, because Macintosh limited the compatible hardware, they were able to tweak settings and guarantee that the system won't crash due to drivers, which is usually what happens on windows. Also the 64-bit argument is pretty much moot as nearly nothing implements it yet, unless you're buying overpriced products from Adobe or use pintpoint products such as Maya, in-which-such-case they already have unique versions for each platform to tweak the speed; meaning that these applications are /not/ comparable on different operating systems.


Please think before you post flames like these.

Let me first state that I don't like Macs at all. Let me also state that this was over-the-top and posted just to stimulate a flame and therefore will not be respected. Operating systems are like flavors of ice cream. Some people have a favorite, some hate certain flavors, others like traits of each.

An example of cost equivalence is that Macintosh systems are delivered with a lot of software to boot. Windows? You'll have to buy product X and product Y just to get it working in a windows purist environment. Macs? It comes with just about everything. There's your price difference.

As for hardware, because Macintosh limited the compatible hardware, they were able to tweak settings and guarantee that the system won't crash due to drivers, which is usually what happens on windows. Also the 64-bit argument is pretty much moot as nearly nothing implements it yet, unless you're buying overpriced products from Adobe or use pintpoint products such as Maya, in-which-such-case they already have unique versions for each platform to tweak the speed; meaning that these applications are /not/ comparable on different operating systems.


Please think before you post flames like these.

I said "almost all". I do have a lot of apps running without the grace of 64bits. I'm also glad that I'll be able to run 64bit apps as they come out. The programs that aren't are stuff like MSN or Winamp, and as far as programs go, I don't think they really NEED to be 64bit softwear or even 64bit compatible.

I only got BSOD's when my harddrive was dying on me. Other than that, I never get BSOD's on my computer.

I shat bricks when I heard Marisa Stole the Precious Thing for the first time 'cause my mobo's stock voltage for my ram used to be too low for some reason, and it made the SAME NOISE when it would BSOD. That was on my older computer though.

I've never had a BSOD with sound, to be honest.

The game has gone to the dogs. About 90% of player are Egyptians (that's right, you heard me) who don't speak English at all other than, "TEM PLZ"(team please), "ADD MEN"(Add me on your friend list please) and "COM SHELPY"(In-game NPC who's name is actually Shelby). Not only that, but they have introduced a new currency called CP's (Conquer Points). You can only get these from trading in dragonballs which, as you know are very rare in-game but can by bought from the website through paypal.

GM's are still extinct. Finding English speaking players is hard, and getting in-game friends is even harder. There are a LOT of bulkers, (people who spend thousands of rl dollars on DB's) PKing isn't what it used to be, The economy is ruined. The strong get stronger while the weak simply quit.

That being said, I play on Nature>Snowfall :)


Edit: After re-reading this post I just realised how off topic it was. I don't want another infraction (Why so serious?) so I'll add something. A good way to find specific wallpapers is to do the following:

Google images, type your screen resolution, i.e. (800 600) followed by any them you wish. I found my desktop by typing; 1680 1050 star wars. It's that simple!

It's all for aesthetic purposes, I pride myself in having the best looking computer amongst my friends at least. There is a pop-up dock that is at the top of the screen also.
