The biggest thing you need to understand when transitioning from a "bubble" to society is that no one really cares about you or your life. I've never met anyone who doesn't feel at least a little bit of satisfaction when misfortune is brought on a person they feel deserves it, whether they had a hand in it or not.

It might be weird, but I think what you're going through right now is pretty standard for people fresh out of high school and are now thrown into an independent life so suddenly. Situations like these do make good learning experience, but do take care of yourself =)

Oh, this is a free addition to Black Ops, rendering clips and putting them online (Theatre Mode; you can watch your recent games and save snippets for file sharing purposes). The drawback is that it's such a horrible quality and you can only upload anything under 30 seconds. The only other alternative of grabbing clips is by using a capture card or whatever they're called but those are expensive as hell...

I'll try to do better pacing and fluidity in later replays but it's hard to do considering I'm using a PS3 controller to control the speed of the clip. Think recording something with a VCR XD)

Plugins are a blessing and a curse for Firefox right now. The core load of the Firefox system is nice and spiffy, but if you tack on a poorly written addon or a Process/Memory hog like NoScript and Adblock, the system ultimately becomes unstable. After a month's worth of time is invested into browsing, firefox's speed drops by at least half due to the mess it leaves in its profiles. Google's taken a blind eye towards download stability, even after several hundreds of reports addressing it's instability.

Opera is a nice system, but, ultimately, almost no major Rich Internet Application renders properly in it. SVG support is minimal, and it tends to fly into left field whenever they try to implement something. IE... is it's own beast. Between rumors of Microsoft trying to force developers to switch to silverlight by not improving javascript, CSS, and SVG support, and it's heinous amount of privacy controls (all or none), I can't say that I personally like it. Tack on ActiveX, and you have yourself some major issues. Then again, Firefox has XULs which have essentially the same level of insecurity that ActiveX controls have.

Never used safari, never plan to. Apple products always tend to be slow, incomplete, and lackluster. But, hey, they look pretty, and the UI is intuitive.


The number one complaint about users converting from Firefox to another browser is the lack of an ad blocking service. Most don't take the time to research into this matter. While the Adblock extension does its job decently in Firefox, there's something much more effective and cross platform. Privoxy (http://www.privoxy.org/). It comes stock with a ton of filters against ads. The only mark I have against Privoxy is that It's a bit difficult to add rules, but most people just subscribe to adblock filters anyways and not define their own rules. Privoxy also filters cookies. Don't like the fact that Google websites are tracking you? Privoxy keeps things in wraps. At a minimum, Privoxy does everything that Adblock does and it works with any browser that supports proxies.

Users "online" is now counted by the hour as long as they don't logout, rather than 10 or 15 minutes. It gives the illusion that more people are on than there really are.

At least now there's no overflow from long usernames, the multiquote works, mod-buttons are properly displayed, column controls have returned, and the theme has generally been fixed as it's no longer running on the legacy Postbit layout. Additionally, Threaded and Hybrid views work on threads that have less than a hundred posts (not that anyone cares/would use).


At least I found the removal of the post counts pretty quickly. I didn't want to insult other users on the forum given my massive total.

If you want to follow my progress tomorrow, equip the Playground Theme -- It's the layout I'll enact on all three themes once I'm happy with it.

Don't like it? Go somewhere else. It's not any worse than before (hell, the links essentially became pictures; big whoop), and, like the person before me said, it allows people to screen before they click, so it actually helps users find things that they like as opposed to the old way, which was just to link something without context only to be rick rolled for no reason.


Oh, and it was a combination of vB 4 and myself that gave the capability to post youtube videos this way, not Gand. So if you have complains, throw them my way. I'll be sure to fire rebuttals back ;) Trust me, there are far worse things to add to the forum that are not happening here but are in other locations (such as the classic like, reddit integration, and graded moderation - where users of certain reputation points are given graduated moderation rights).



Above and beyond all of this, the userbase voiced for a change in the way things are being done here often, so that's exactly what's being done. Give it a while and you'll grow into it. It's not like we're restricting anyone's actions by leaving the feature there.

I upped the annie on my last post simply because it seemed like resistance to change. If that was not the intension of the posting, then I apoligize full heartedly, because I'm only trying to apply change to the forums in response to what the userbase wants and what would increase the functionality of the forums. It's similar to what Neko has said before about trying to do anything different with the forums: it looks like the users don't want it to happen. Yet, there's some draw to change the forums to something better. It's a strong Catch-22 that I have yet to see anyone attempt to challenge.

I know I'm a narcissist. I understand my personal shortcomings when communicating with others. But at the same time when I see something that can be made better, I jump on it. Only to be pushed backwards for making the change, and not allowing the effects of the change to set in. I know I screwed up with the theme issues yesterday, but if you hadn't noticed, it was a side effect on one single theme due to a recompilation off of the base template. Blue and Green worked just fine, but Red didn't get the transformations when I reverted the changes.

Given a bit more time, I would have been able to make all of the forum's capabilities available again, but I saw resistance from all sides, so I completely reverted my changes and went hands-off. As much as I'd like to do things transparently and behind the scenes, there's several things that cannot be done behind the scenes due to the limitations set before me.

If anything, I think the rep system would clean up a lot of useless spam posts/petty bickering, because whenever someone acts like a dick to someone else for no reason, they'll be crushed by the mighty power of the downvoters.
