Hopeless, that reminds me of a time awhile ago when me and my friends tried to jump a bush! (sounds juvenile,right?) Anyway, I cleared it with mad jumping skills...I didn't stop running though....I hit my head on a fence!!! I get up and im like "AWWW FUCK MY ARM IS BLEEDING!!" and while I was looking at it, my friend said "dude, your head is bleeding too". It turns out I wiped my head with my arm and got blood on it. What grade of solo can you perform?
Demonstrate eight different scales in both Major and Minor.
What is the proper technique used to distinguish between a Staccato, Marcato, and a Marcato with Staccato?
What is the proper technique for playing a Legato Staccato?
What is a phrase mark, and why is it different from Legato and breath marks?
What are the major divisions of music, and why are they divided as such? Use personal opinions when necessary.
Explain what a chord is.
Explain the seven major forms of chords.

I only like some. I'm still quite new to the genera, so I can't really identify what my pallet. For instance, I like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-dMflPsDLs because it mixes ambient tones, techno, and a complex chord structure. Oh, come on. Half the fun of games is trying your best and kicking other people's asses/losing gracefully. I don't mind losing in anything, as long as I played well for myself, but it's definitely annoying when games get cut off half way through. There's definitely a feeling of "why the hell was I trying so hard when the end result was so unsatisfying?"

If I was playing a two hour go game with someone, and the server crashed or I lost connection or something, I'd definitely be upset, whether I was losing miserably, or crushing my opponent. There's no closure when a game ends abruptly like that. = \
Now, if a CoD game ended on me midway, I wouldn't give a shit at all, because I don't care about CoD; I'm guessing you don't either. I'm sure if you were playing/doing something you did care about, you'd be annoyed if you got cut off halfway through.

The funny thing is, I loved those games, and still do. Although, it seems like Touhou is the only one around now that's worth playing. Now games like Silhouette Mirage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zobFPiLDnOE), there's something where someone needs to assassinate the developers. Oh, that's because FPSs sucked ass when I was a kid (Target Years: 90-97), so it's a given that I'd suck at them. I didn't like a single one of them until Half Life was released. After all, back then, if you wanted action, you'd play a top-down; wanted strategy, you'd play a tatics RPG; if you wanted a puzzle game, you'd play puyo puyo; and if you wanted to race, you'd play Mario Kart. None of this weird mixture of everything and regurgitated a thousand times stuff like we see today.

As much as I dislike Vocaloid and don't personally enjoy to listen to a lot of pop music, my music teacher really put things into perspective for me.

First, a lot of complaint comes from the fact that a lot of pop (pop genre/popular) don't write their own lyrics; don't write their own music; don't do things themselves in general. But keep in mind they are not being penned as singer-songwriters in the first place. They are performers: they perform music. That includes singing and dancing commonly too, because dancing is just as much a part of performance if the genre entails so.

But then, there begs the question of "what if the performer isn't performing?" such as with Vocaloid, auto-tune, or live lip-synching? Then keep in mind someone is still making all the music, someone is composing and working on the computer and sound system before you hear anything from those 'faux' performances. I guess a good rhetoric would be, have you heard someone who was not familiar nor versed with using Vocaloid or auto-tune properly? Sounds like shit, or, worse shit.

I guess a lot of the times, the people who make the music even possible are oft ignored and unpraised, but it's a performer you look at, not the sound mixer. Sadly, it's the performer whom you listen too also, who makes the performance what it is, because it's specifically Lady Gaga and Britney Spears who brings that specific package for the performance, and if it's needed any versed, run-of-the-mill techie could replace another.

And music can be well made, good; but it doesn't have to be quality at the same time.

I like vocaloid sometimes...just like I like midi music sometimes. Depends on the song, and how it's used. Obviously, a real singer usually fits a song more, but I've heard some songs written for vocaloid singing, and I thought they sounded great. Just another instrument to work with. =D

Just got back from a 3 day archery competition. Came 2nd in my division (re-curve and traditional) and 5th in the under 18's section (and managed to beat about 90% of the compound shooters with my english war bow XD)

The difference to me is that those midi songs sound nostalgic. We've all grown up with the NES or SNES, or Master System or Megadrive. It has this nostalgic feel to it. Also, they just couldn't do any better at the time.

The vocalois however, is redundant. They can store the actual voice of an actual singer onto a disc or flash card that's several gigabytes large, so they don't need a synthesizer anymore to save space or whatever. It's a nice experiment and everythine, and probably in a few years it will sound as realistic as normal singers, but right now it just sounds rubbish and it always makes me wonder why people like it - and even more why some people prefer it over real singers.

Something on the parallel side of this is that KZ, the song's composer, could not afford a singer, so he decided to purchase a version of Vocaloid Act 2 for producing his lyrics. Choucho was a singer that previewed songs that she liked and then reproduced the ones she liked on Niconico song. Choucho would not have been able to sing the song if the vocaloid song did not exist. Not that this justifies the vocaloid version of the song. Not to mention, Last Night Good Night was worshiped as the best vocaloid song for quite some time before Choucho redid it, so there's some nostalgia for those that regular Nicovideo.

I hadn't looked at it from that POV. Still, it sounds horrible and people who prefer the sound of a vocaloid over a real singer should be shot or at least chemically castrated to remove their genes from the evolutionary chain, because obviously something went very wrong with their ears.

Also, hatsune miku is from 2007, so about 2 or 3 years ago. You don't build up nostalgic feelings in just 2 years, especially if within that same timespan a much better version was released.

When there's a computer game that people like and an improved version is released within 2 years (so it's the same game without the bugs, better graphics and better sound but exactly the same gameplay) people are bound to forget about the old game.

I'm not talking about nostalgia, though. That Contra game is only like six months old; I really think that using real instruments for the music would have been a disservice to the music. I think it would have sounded very muddled and confused if real instruments were used; they don't have the punchy sounds synths do, which is a needed element for the crazy Contra-esque music. I do agree that most songs sound better with real instruments, but I think there are a good deal of songs that would sound significantly worse or even terrible using real instruments (the Contra music being a good example.) So for me, it's not a matter of being "able to do better" nowadays. Sometimes I think synth is just the best fit! =)


The first version of the song simply causes my brain to melt and bleed out of my ears. The second version is one of the best songs I've ever heard. But there are people who claim the vocaloid version sounds better. Those people should be shot.

See, you had to pick that song as an example, huh? For 95% of the vocaloid songs out there, I'd agree with you - this song isn't one of them, though. I think the vocaloids shine in the really high registers, which this song is pretty much based on. The human version is obviously being 'cleaned up' by computers during the high parts (eg 2:00-2:30), and sounds flat and uninspiring to me. The vocaloid version sounds sharp and clean, which I actually prefer here. Note that I've never heard either of the songs before, so I'm just trying to objectively critique both; I couldn't care less which is more popular or which I heard first, etc.

Anyway! I'd agree that synth instruments and voices usually sound worse than their live counterparts, but I think synth has a very strong niche of music that only it can fulfill. I like them both! =D

I'm not a relationship type of person, so try not to take my explanation too seriously. If you want to find out why she doesn't want to skate, then you have to study the response that she gave you. If she said no firmly to you, then that means she doesn't like the idea of skating. If she said no plainly to you, then that means skating didn't cross her mind at that time. If she said no with an unsure tone, then that probably means she's afraid to try out new experiences. If she said no to you subtly/softly or mysteriously to you, then the possibilities become too endless and this means you should give her the discretion of telling you the reason at her own expense. In the end, relationships are about knowing your partner's feelings and thoughts. You should try to figure out your girlfriend's intentions yourself, since you're the one closest to her here. Also, don't try to push her into trying skating too much, it's up to her to like the idea or not. A common mistake guys (Me included) tend to make around their girlfriends is assuming that their girlfriends will come to like things that they like themselves, which might not be true for that matter. If I had to venture a guess, it'd be because the song she was singing was written for a computer to sing, thus her human voice wasn't fit to sing it. Which was the point of my whole argument, coincidentally.

Interesting number of fanservice shots (especially with the number of vodka jokes). Lots of plot discontinuity, but can't say that I hated it though. I feel like I should suggest it to Willuknight to do a Syncro just to see how Uknighted Manganime would react to it.

Nice! Great Sculpting. :D The only issue I had with it is the lack of a pupil in both the eyes, making the eyes look like one big solid marble. Kinda freaked me out a bit there. :heh:

Oh we try, but honestly, Australia can't make a good a tv series, full stop.

1: Film quality isn't exactly the highest quality, eg. makes the show look cheap and amaturish.

I should warn you that it's a couple 10k USD if you want the complete environment. There's a much cheaper type software called GNU Octave (http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/) that does many similar things, but lacks a decent GUI and a lot of the robustness (called toolboxes in matlab lingo). Adding QtOctave (http://qtoctave.wordpress.com/) does a decent job for many of the simpler things, but it falls very short when it comes to data manipulation.

You'd be surprised how much software can cost. Stuff like photo shop and flash are on the cheaper end at about $500 - $2000 depending on the version you get. But things like game engines such as IdTech 5 (used for Doom 4 and Rage) sells for about $200,000; and CryEngine (used for Crysis and Aion) sells for about $125,000. And that's only for the engine, not the licensing agreement to actually sell what you make. So you see, things can get pretty expensive; and of course you have the hardware to back up something like that which is another expensive cost.

12:15 AM Got home from a friend's house. Went to sleep.

7:30 AM Woke up from a weird dream by my phone's alarm. Seriously thought it was Friday, then remembered it was actually Saturday and I set my alarm so I could go snowboarding today. Seriously contemplated sleeping in and just going boarding tomorrow. I mustered the power to get out of bed, got all my shit ready then drove to my home mountain.

9:20 AM - 2:45 PM Arrived at mountain, pretty much stayed in the park all day. Busted out a Frontside 540, but had serious commitment issues when it came to Backside 360s. Made me very aggravated (generally, backside 360s are easier because once you hit 180 degrees, you can see your landing and then just rotate foward once more. While with Frontside 360s, you can't see your landing til atleast 270 degrees). I was in the car driving home at 2:55 PM.

4:00 PM Arrived home, showered, ate.

5:30 PM - 10:00 PM Baby sat. Extremely easy. Three kids, 6, 8, 11. Two younger ones are girls, they're absolutely adorable and extremely well behaved. Easiest 40$ of my life.
