It's still a stupid game with lame characters. Seriously, Chrono Trigger deserved a better sequel than that, at least one that followed the same style and all. If they couldn't keep up with the original style, they shouldn't have butchered it when making a sequel, they just shouldn't have made a sequel.

Never do that. You'll find that there's a lot more work in an assignment that you think. It took me far longer that I could have ever imagined to pull information on Charie Shavers from places other than wikipedia (ending up in a 4 page report and at least a 7 min speech -- Jazz Appreciation), and a speech on how communism would benifit the world (I drew the shorter straw) (12 min personal presention, 5 min class discussion head by myself, and three questions from the opposing catagory -- Communications 101), a paper on the true story of Christopher Columbus (quite a simple report of 4 pages -- English 101), not to mention a psycology test on the brain's hemispheres and the PNS (Anyone for the reticular activating system; my question is where will I ever need to know that, other than trying to figure out how to put someone to sleep). Did I mention balancing my job with this?

Then again, thinking back, that was all assigned in the week and due within a week assigned (they were kind of terraced), so there was nothing I could do about it. And it wasn't that bad. Just a lot of time in a short space.

And an example of a Jazz Appreciation quiz question:

Sometimes called Jazz-Funk or just Fusion it replaced the 4/4 swing style with rock or funk like beats the were far simpler than Bop or Free Jazz styles. Electronic instruments became common and amplification/electronic-effects were used heavily. One of the most important elements behind this new style would be the addition of the synthesizer.

Who else but Miles Davis was included in this group. With albums such as Bitches Brew and Silent Way it clearly showed how well the man was in tune with the Fusion genera. Also when Miles hit this type of jazz, he never turned back, he was a part of Fusion until his death in 1991. His fan base only grew. He tapped into a wider audience by playing in rock bands. He had a dead period between 1975 through the 1981 due to illness (most likely drug induced) but returned with the album ‘Man with the Horn’, which included the members Bill Evans (not the pianist from his earlier bands), Marcus Miller, Al Foster, and Mike Stern. Miles started to focus more on recording albums rather than performing live at this point. On his last albums, Miles used completely synth. audio tracks with his trumpet improvision over the top of it.

While Miles was important, he was not the only one. Larry Coryell—a jazz guitarist—pioneered the incorporation of rock, blues, and country elements into jazz. Another important band was Dreams, who housed a number of upcoming stars in the Fusion Movement—with Billy Cobham, Mike Brecker, Randy Brecker, and John Abercrombie. Lifetime was another important band formed by Tony Williams. This band blended Jazz and rock rhythms that were powered by Tony’s hard drumming style. This group was never highly appreciated due to its overuse of energy, distortion and extreme use of Guitar and Organ. Even so, Tony gained legendary status between the eighties and nineties, and continued in both Jazz and rock.

The Mahavishnu Orchestra was formed by McLaughlin and included the artists Billy Cobham Jan Hammer, Rick Laird, and Jerry Goodman. Unlike the Miles Davis’ approach to Fusion, the Mahavishnu Orchestra was tightly rehearsed with unison figures, complex meters, ostinato figures, and rock rhythms fueled by Billy Cobham. Even though they were focused on fast playing, they could also play slower more acoustical songs like ‘A Lotus on Irish Streams or ‘Open Country Joy’. In 1973 the group disbanded and a new Mahavishnu Orchestra was formed in 1974, only to be short lived. This one added the Violist Jean-Luc Ponty. The breakup affected McLaughlin’s work with fusion and he started to focus more on the acoustical guitar.

Next would be the Headhunters, which included Herbie Hancock from the Miles Davis band. Herbie continued to explore the wonders of electronic sounds in a sextet he, himself, formed. His group was quickly disbanded in 1973 due to the lack of success. But this didn’t stop Hancock. He went into R&B pop group the Pointer Sisters. It was with this group that Herbie started to think of performing a more Funk and R&B sounding group. Even though he was never a member of Stone, he did increase his publicity in the album “Headhunters” and the song “Chameleon”. His next project, Thrust, sued repetitive funk and dance rhythms with the song “Butterfly”. Herbie continues to jump from band to band today.

Weather Report was one of the longer lasting and better known fusion groups formed in the ‘70s. For fifteen years, this group recorded fifteen albums, with the founding members Josef Zawinul and Wayne Shorter (both worked with Miles in the sixties), along with a slew of inconsistent members—Mirolav Vitous, Alphonse Mouzon, Airto Moreira, Jaco Pastorius, Scott Henderson, and more. They began as an acoustic, collective improvision group, but in their third album in 1973 they started to move in the direction of rock/funk fusion with songs like Birdland, with a driving bass line of Jaco Pastorius. In the later seventies the group started towards the more formulated disco rhythms (a sad day for Jazz musicians), but they still remained popular. In 1982, Pastorius went solo and formed the group Word of Mouth. Weather Report managed to maintain stability without Pastorius until 1986. Zawinul tried a revival of Weather Report, called Weather Update, that played similar songs. The group managed to practice a remarkable amount of styles and approaches ranging from the Impressionists movement to Fusion second to Duke Ellengton.

Could you tell me how to find a post office, what you can do there, and that after you've gone there you're going to have a party with friends and then go home to go to sleep? And say that your house has a big garden and a lot of rooms, and near a park?

Or will you just be able to say your name, age and where you came from?

I can read the japanese words that are written like the Chinese words but then I have no idea how to pronounce them in Jap, I do know what they mean... so that just means I know chinese eh?

-Tagalog (my native language)
-English (Secondary language that was necessary to learn)
-Spanish (it was partially linked to Tagalog so I decided to learn it...I'm not very good though)

Latin is a pointless, expired, interchangable, and extremely tedious (too many conjugations!!!) language. Then again, chinese is far worse that that...

Chinese was my first language so to me it's an easy A, I wanted to be challenged so I wanted to try Latin and plus I think it would somehow improve my english~

French has by far the most atrocious spelling in any dimension except the seventh. Sure the word might say Bordeaux but don't let that fool you. It's probably pronounced /tim/. For any given word, about half of it is silent. And fleur-de-lis? What the heck! Why can't they just spell it flower and lily like the rest of us non-wine-drinking-cheese-eating-Franks. To top it off, the fleur-de-lis isn’t even a lily but an iris. Knowing their track record, I doubt it’s even a flower or French.

And yet, as PhD students all over the world approach their seventh, "final" year, they must learn this language (or another of their choosing) well enough to pass an examination with only a dictionary and they have about two weeks to learn it (theoretically, they have several years to learn it, but like assuming a thesis cannot be written the week before, no PhD candidate has ever done it leading many researchers to conclude that time, as we know it, does not exist for graduate students). Yes, it is true. Most PhD programs require candidates to pass a language examination in at least one if not two modern, major languages with French or German tending to be the top choices. And here comes the amazing power of speed-language learning! Study like crazy for a two weeks, take an exam, and forget it all two weeks later. If every PhD has done it, I guess a high school student can too. In any case, why is the Carolina lily (Lilium michauxii) named after a Frenchman? I bet michauxii is pronounced /mik/ too.
