Okay, I lied. I love this computer, now that I got past all of the bullshit "Free trial crap! Install it and register with us, lolol!!!" type things. Just a little problem I'm having with Vista. Whenever I want to do anything, it's telling me I'm denied access because I'm not running it as the administrator. Then it asks "do you want to run this as the administrator?" which is really redundant, as far as I'm concerned. Yes, I'm the administrator. When I tell you to run things, I mean it, because I'm the administrator all day long. You don't need to ask me whether or not I want to be the administrator at any given moment. Besides that, Vista's been great, but....

How do I tell Vista to automatically assume that I want to run things as the administrator? I'd also like to turn off the other kind-of-related message system - the one that constantly asks me if I'm the one who started a program/changed a setting/blinked. It seems a bit too much. I know it probably helps a little with security, but I've never had any problems with XP, so I'll just trust Vista to be secure enough for me without asking me all these questions all the time. Does anyone know how to turn them off?

If you get the UAC (which what you are getting) a lot every day, then you're doing something wrong. Try actually doing something with your computer instead of messing around with the settings all day. Even at work I hardly get UAC pop-ups.

I'm sure it only takes around thirty seconds to figure out, but I figured I'd lure our resident Microsoft Fanboi Executive Class into giving me the answer instead. My plan didn't work, and now I'll have to do it myself. The UAC is popping up because I'm installing a bunch of crap, and Java wants me to update. It's not incredibly annoying, but it's unneeded. I guess I'll fix it myself, hahah! ;D

I have to say that I'm really enjoying Vista overall, though. My concerns about it preforming slowly were unfounded, apparently. It might eat up more resources than it should, but it's running very fast on this computer, and it's only sporting 2gig of ram. I'm very happy with it. It's also pretty nice looking. My snowy anime background is looking pretty sexy with Aero around it. :3

Actually pretty much what 98 was to 98, actually. Or ME to 98. Or XP to 2000...

Basically with Windows, new versions always have most errors.

Win95 wasn't that good until OSR2.0 (4.00.950B )

Windows 2000 was pretty solid on it's own... but not meant for home use

I don't know; I don't seem to run into any real problems with any versions of Windows. I remember not liking ME, but that was about it. I liked 2000, and XP was fine for me even before SP2. 95 and 98 are old, and I didn't do much on them.

And Vista's treating me nicely, so far.

Maybe I just don't mess around with my computers enough to break them. I really just turn them on and use my art programs on them, hahah. Still, if they're working well enough to do that, what more can I ask for? What are computers supposed to do that Vista isn't doing, exactly?

Not bashing vista either, it still is a billion times better than XP even with its faults. For one it boots up in under 10 secs. That earns 90/100 points in my book.

The Dracula guy would look much better as a painting.
I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you can't paint him, though.
To cheat, just make a new layer above him, take a decent sized brush, and color pick different parts of his face, laying down solid color every few inches or so, you know?
It'll look much nicer, and doesn't take any real painting talent, hahah. =D

Of course, the best thing would be if you could actually paint him, exaggerating his Dracula-ness and such. That would be badass. The method I mentioned will make a decent substitute, though, and is a lot easier, obviously. XD

It still looks okay as-is, but Dracula sticks out a bit too much. The poster looks old-painting-ish, but then Dracula kind of pops out as "I-wish-I-looked-like-an-old-painting-instead-of-a-guy-with-filters-applied-to-him." Keep in mind it still looks good (and probably good enough), but it'd be much more professional looking if you painted over him. Anyway, good luck. It's a pretty cool poster. :3

Looking at how he played, I probably should have played closer to the top left corner, instead of marking out such an unreasonable piece of territory for myself. After I did that, I could have tried spreading out?

Could you explain why the diagonals are bad, though? I always thought they were a pretty strong formation, but I'm just starting out, so I don't really know anything, hahah. They all turned into straight groups later on...I thought the diagonals were pretty safe from cuts, since I'd have two stones wrapped around his, unless he extended into my diagonal mess; if he threatened to cut, I just connected...so are diagonals really unsafe, or are they just inefficient? Explain to a newb, please!

That's what I figured you'd say, since the same thing happened to me. For some reason, I was hell-bent on marking out my territory in a nice straight line, even though I wasted twenty moves later saving all of my unconnected pieces. X3

It was a nine stone game, since the skill gap between us was so large. The stones were placed on the nine stars. (Or is it eight stars and Tengen? Do the thumbs count as fingers? Is our sun a star? Hahah! Whatever...) I should have spaced things out better in the top left corner. My dumb beginner instincts told me to close in a corner, not realizing that a giant corner may as well be open, since he had more than enough space to wreak havoc in there.

I personally suck at Star Craft. I just can't micromanage fast enough. My better friends build like five units to my one. I can't be bothered to scroll around the map that fast, clicking on everything. I can't stand the unit selection cap, either. Blargh. You can make groups, but it's still a pain. I'm looking forward to SCII, since they're getting rid of the selection cap. I hope they make the unit building queues longer, too.

You shouldn't have done the staircasing around lower left and mostly your pieces are on the outer "dead" lines. Those that made into center got isolated badly and feh, here's the result. Endgame, tie the loose ends, see if you can scavenge a little more ground with N9. But yeah I'm thinking you lost by a margin of more than 150.

And an average beginner for-fun Go game only takes about an hour in its entirety. That's like....really fast considering how many moves you can make per turn. And if the game takes longer than that, that just means the two players are having more fun than usual. ;)

Squares would be a hard one to explain. On a grid of dots you connect the dots to make boxes. The player with the most boxes wins. There's a few other rules to it but it's more of an in-class paper game so you don't need to know.

Like Rozen Maiden? I never saw why that show gained the popularity it did; I never would have guessed that the SC and RM people were the same team. I couldn't get into Rozen Maiden, but I thought Shugo Chara was pretty damn good. =D
RM seemed okay, but the characters just never really stood out for me, and the artwork was....meh.

I liked Amu's character design, too. Refreshing! Her outfit is something I'd actually wear, if I were a cute schoolgirl.

And lol at the SC episode names - they all end in exclamation points! XD

Clannad AS ep 09 made me cry again...><"....It was as sad as the makato arc, even tho I knew what was going to happen (the anime followed the visual novel very accurately with dialogue too) I still found it sad... /end of rant

Except we're both crappy lower kyu players, so in reality, I doubt any of our moves were really very good. But we both felt like we were playing really well, so it was tons of fun! Happy, happy, happy~

I had One Winged Angel playing the whole game, bwahahahahahahahah!~!!
Of course, I gave him tons of pointers and links and encouragement too, but I couldn't help but winning absolutely, since I lose to every single person I play.

The sad thing was, after I had ninety captures to his one, and I had control of 80% of the board, he finally said "well, I don't think I can win anymore, so I guess I'll resign." That's what happens when you mess with a mighty 21k, bitch! XD

Gah, some stupid asshole asked me for a teaching game, saying he was around 25k. My rank says 22k. So I accept his challenge and go into the room, and it's a nine stone handicap game! So I'm like "hey, this is gonna be impossible for me." And the kid's like "no no, just play it lol!" So I'm like "whatever, it'll be fun at least."

Halfway through the middle game, the kid passes, and tells me to pass too, so that we can end the game. I was like "uh, no. I just worked hard to get around your ridiculous handicap, and I actually have a good chance of winning. If I pass now, I'll lose, since you're ahead in points." The kid gets all pissed, saying he's bored, and that he's definitely going win anyway, so why don't I just resign already?

I'm like OH HELL NO, MOTHERFUCKER! You asked me for a teaching game, gave yourself a ridiculous handicap, made me respond to all of your shitty moves this whole time, and now you're telling me to resign!? So I didn't resign, obviously. We kept on playing, with him telling me I was going to lose even during the endgame. I beat the stupid bastard by more than a hundred points.

This proves two things:
1.)He definitely wasn't 25k, because I'm around 20k. I told him that, and he refused to believe it.
2.)Eh...it proves one thing, at least.

I just couldn't believe he asked me for a handicap game, and then rushed me through the whole game, telling me I couldn't beat him, anyway. Such bad manners.

The idiot kid thought he was going to win, because his rank said "15k" for one game, since his opponent resigned. So basically, not only did he disrespect my kindness in taking up his stupid challenge, he didn't really want to be taught at all, and was only trying to bait a player he thought was lower than him into an impossible torture match. I'm so happy I beat him so badly!

It was a really fun game anyway, though. Fighting against nine stones is a weird challenge, as is trying to keep your cool in the face of a rude opponent. Good times! =D
