When using ganbatte don't forget to put "kudasai" （ください） behind it. Just "Ganbatte" is something you would use for friends and could be considered rude when used with people you're not on personal terms with. "Ganbatte kudasai" litterally means "please do your best" (instead of just "do your best") and is probably best in most situations, unless you're at school or among close friends, though "ganbaru" could be used then to.

Anyway, stick a kudasai behind it to play safe. I can look up the other sentence in my Japanese book if you still need it.

Well, today we finally bought another telvision set. Its a 30'' HD widescreen Samsung tv. I can't wait till' we get it hooked up.

lucky person...my parents are divorced so me and my mom have a hard time getting expensive stuff like that.

It was just $700. The one I really wanted was around $2000. It wasn't really a big screen tv, it just had the best picture quality in the world.

I don't have photoshop per say. I have hp photosmart express but I think that's something else. The only way I can edit is, go to my pictures, click on one, go to the options that allows me to edit but I feel the stuff there is too simple and not like the stuff maybe M is using....

Four programs that I've used in the past.

Photoshop (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/)
Paint Shop Pro (http://www.jasc.com/)
GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) or GIMPshop (http://www.gimpshop.net/)
Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/index.html)

GIMP/shop and Paint.NET are free (GNU), Paint Shop Pro is around 99 USD (End User), and Photoshop is about 500 USD (End User). When I'm making Vector Graphics, I go into Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/) (also free; GNU).

Out of all of these programs, I find that Photoshop delivers the best. A close second is GIMP/shop mainly due to how overly technical they make things, then Paint Shop Pro, and finally, at the very last position Paint.NET (I only used the last two for about--oh--ten minutes before deciding that).

If you go to google and type in Photoshop tutorials or GIMP tutorials, you'll be introduced to a lot of photo manipulation directions to make some very nice graphics.

But obtaining photoshop is a whole nother story.

Well, I am new to all of this as you can tell. Before, I used computers to just surf the web but this is the first I'd try to create anything like those sigs and avatars here. Please excuse my noobishness :sigh:

No people usually use screencaps/artbooks/whatever sources they can find, and cut the charactors out. The backgrounds are almost always custom made though.

Take a pre made picture from a picture network (iichan, 4chan, ...), extract what you want then paste it into a double/triple sized sig canvas. Then do all kinds of fancy stuff to the background.

You saw me extracting the image earlier with my random snapshots (picture with a translucent red shading).

I erased a ton of birds, and had to redraw the right mountain. The center most cloud I managed to make from scratch (don't ask me how). I also had to redraw the stone floor near the center of the picture because it had a handrail right smack dab in the middle, and it looked hella fugly. I thought I understood color levels, and modified the overall color of right most picture, but obviously the blue jeans are too blue. I should repair that one to my current status.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong. I have done re rendering (usually resulting in something that looks like shit), but I've never made a signature purely from scratch; as in White canvas, pen tool, and a mouse.
