Pippa Passes was a dramatic piece, as much play as poetry, by Robert Browning published in 1841 as the first volume of his Bells and Pomegranates series.

The author described the work as the first of a series of dramatic pieces. His original idea was of a young, innocent girl, moving unblemished through the crime-ridden neighbourhoods of Asolo. The work caused outrage when it was first published, due to the matter-of-fact portrayals of many of the area's more disreputable characters – notably the adulterous Ottima – and for its frankness on sexual matters. Perhaps the most famous passage is below:

Besides the oft-quoted line "God's in his Heaven/All's right with the world!" above, the poem contains an amusing error rooted in Robert Browning's unfamiliarity with vulgar slang. Right at the end of the poem, in her closing song, Pippa calls out the following:

Toll the world to thy chantry;
Sing to the bats’ sleek sisterhoods

The animation at some parts? It's cg, so you can't expect it to be as fluid as hand drawn anime. I still think they did a really good job, though. I don't think Tri-Crescendo has the budget to hand-draw all of the cutscenes. A few of them were traditional animation though, which made me happy, and I think even the cg scenes have a really nice style to them, even if the animation isn't as smooth as in the hand-drawn parts. =D

I really like the atmosphere the trailer sets. It looks like it would make a very thoughtful, pretty anime movie. It reminds me of Byoukosu and the like. :3
And there's nothing better than that! Go away, high-poly models, ridiculous budgets, sun bloom, and gratuitous violence! Bring me a good story, great art style, and touching music! X3

Still, I liked Baten Kaitos and Eternal Sonata, so I believe in their ability to pull it off. As long as the combat is even remotely fun, I'll end up liking this game.

Well, it was going in-game graphics to cutscene graphics back to ingame over and over again. I've never seen a game that has the same quality game graphics as cutscene graphics. Also, the cutscene backgrounds are all hand paintings, while the in game graphics are 3d, obviously. Paintings, of course, are gorgeous compared to 3d models. I'm glad they're using paintings at all, as I almost never see people doing that in games.

And Tri-Crescendo has some really good artists. Eternal Sonata used the same assets in-game and during cutscenes, because the 360 and ps3 could handle that - the Wii simply can't. I still think the in-game graphics are very nice though, simply because the style and design is there. Then again, that's also because Eternal Sonata's graphics weren't as good as the cutscene graphics in this game; that's a budget issue though, not a processing one. I don't think many companies could afford to paint an RPG's worth of background images, lol. Not if they wanted to turn a profit, anyway.

Then again, anime companies do it all the time....hmmmm....

And yes, the Tri-Crescendo animators need some practice. The Eternal Sonata models were a bit rigid, too. I think it's because they're a smaller company, and can't afford to motion capture an RPG's worth of acting, like Square and the like can. Not many companies animate that kind of thing (or anything?) by hand anymore. Tri-Crescendo and other smaller companies are forced to, because mocap isn't cheap.

I dunno, maybe House grows on you. I've seen about four episodes while visiting friends, though, and it didn't appeal to me. I really can't even remember much at all about it because I found it so lackluster. Smart asshole doctor? Emergency dramas? Maybe I should give the show another go, but the last time I did, I didn't find it worth following.

I'd say "all my friends are telling me to watch it, so maybe I should," but almost every time I say that, I end up regretting it, thinking something along the lines of "jesus, people really can overhype anything that qualifies as passable entertainment, can't they?"

But, there are always exceptions! And I do usually enjoy smart-ass characters! =D

They are. But generally speaking mahou tends to mean the D&D style fantasy magic kind of magic, whereas majutsu is more often used to mean showcase magic. You know, like card magic, escape artist, etc.

Mac: 2.4 ghz Core2Duo//2GB RAM//250GB Harddisk//Geforce 9600 GT 256MB//1440 x 900 screen

So the Dell has *everything* better, aside from the GFX card. And it is over €150 cheaper than the mac. If I had chosen a comparable 1440x900 screen for the Dell, this difference would have been even more.

So who says macs are cheap?

Actually, Koneko and I debated this with Alone for about 2 hours on IRC. His only defense article was one website that was a few years old, as well as on an apple-centric website. That's like me saying that Windows ME has absolutely no problems and proving it by linking to a geocity website.

Regardless, we proved that Apples are still on the top of the cost chain per spec.

• The Dell uses Intel graphics instead of the much better NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, which is currently unavailable in any other computer.

And since when are laptops gaming machines that require graphics cards equivalent to desktops? Though specwise, the Mac is better graphically, but this is actually overkill.


• The Dell uses a 802.11g Mini-Card as oposed to the MacBook's Wireless N card.

35 USD more for NEXTGEN wireless N, which, mind you, isn't implemented anywhere yet.


• While it has 3GB of Shared Dual Channel DDR2 RAM at 667MHz, the 2GB of RAM in the MacBook is 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM.

To say that a lot of speed bottleneck versus a size bottleneck is better is ignorant.


• The Dell has an Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 with 667MHz bus and 2MB cache as opposed to the Intel Core 2 Duo with 3MB on chip and 1066 MHz bus on the MacBook.

Can't argue.


• The Dell has no Bluetooth by default.

• There's no HD video output on the Dell and no option for one.

Who needs High Definition output? Most televisions out today are 480p, and if you want hifi output, you should be using the VGA DSub, and not HDMI.

Unless you're in enterprise software, you don't really need this.




Also, it's worth noting that they used the Inspirion 13, which has limitations purposely set to improve batterylife, weight, and size. @Alone: I have no preference for OS's anymore. Linux crashes on me and refuses to let me fix it, MacOSX *frequently* locks up on me for minutes on end (or just crashes and plain locks me out :P) and Windows crashes all the time.
