Hai guise. I'm programming my program to have keyboard typing support, but the only way I can see to do it involves like a million if/then statements. So I was just wondering what kind of performance hits that would create. How many steps does an average program go through every update call? Computers can handle doing like a million calculations every update, right? That's what they're made for, correct?

Could someone who knows what they're talking about put this into perspective for me? How many true/false checks could an average computer do nowadays per second?

Depends on the depth and lenght of the if-thens. If the :?s get too high in quantity, a case statment might be a better choice where the default is extrainious possibilities (if statments inside the case). And there's also logic simplifications you could preform on it, but that requires you to preform a boolian proof on all your varibles for each condition.

Realisiticly, I'd give the million :?s a shot, then try to adapt that after you have it working.
