Come now; fighting takes a fair share of both wit and strength. There's nothing wrong with an occasional teacher-student brawl to take break up the monotony that plagues so many classrooms.

I'll probably not bother with either. I'll check out Akagi, though. I automatically enjoy any show with a well done or novel art style. =D

I'd share pics if I had a camera, but I don't. So I'll just list the models:
Mom's: Hope 50, made by Schwin (2008).
Dad's: Honda Elite 80 (2000). Made by Honda lol.
Mine: Honda Elite 150 Deluxe. (1986!)

In spite of mine being older than Jesus, it's only got 1700 miles on it, compared with my Dad's 80, which has 4600 miles on it. Mine's also a good deal faster, obviously.
Fun, fun. My front tire has some significant dry-rot going on, though. I should probably change the tire before it pops, flipping my bike over and maiming and/or killing me in the process. I'll get that done...soon...

Edit: Oh, you said real bad art style. That's right, I've already seen screens of Akagi. God-awful. XD

Edit edit:
Woo, just fixed the headlight with the help of my uncle! Driving at night is so much fun! =D
Now the only thing that needs fixing is the front tire, but that can wait a few more days. I'm glad the headlight works though; I thought I was going to have to buy a new bulb. It was actually just a switch that wasn't making full contact.

Mariokart for the wii is possibly one of the worst "racing" games ever made. It's definately the worst mariokart game ever made. Whenever I'm driving first the game decides that it wants to win so it suddenly makes all 11 computer players launch an all-out assault on me, which causes me to go from 1st to last place within 2 seconds. Of course, this always happens 5 metres before the finish line so that it's impossible for me to catch up.

No, I'm talking about how second place attacks first place, and then you drop to second, and then third place attacks you whirling you out of bounds, and you drop to third, and so on.

Then use the gamecube remote. That's what those four neat little ports on the top of the machine are for. ;)
Also, the wiimote is actually pretty fun. If you're playing to win, the gamecube controller is obviously the way to go, but the wiimote makes for an entertaining distraction and/or handicap when dealing with lessor opponents.

The problem I have with the Wii version of the game is that they totally fucking ruined battle mode. It's not even playable anymore, and I used to love battle mode as a kid. God damnit, Nintendo.

Actually it works fine. You use your left hand with the nunchuck for direction and use the a button on the wiimote to accelerate. Then use the Z button on the nunchuck to fire items and the B button on the wiimote to drift. There you go, easy as 1-2-3.

Our camp did the basics extensively, Six hours of it a day. Three hours behind an instrument, one hour on drill, and two hours of freetime.

After the camp, we didn't even need to think about marching, we just did it without thinking. Even though, we only had one song ready after camp, we completed the rest after 4 three hour after-school practices. I haven't been to a camp in 3 years now, and I'm still naturally walking in corp style.

[...]Just like the "elder brothers," Azaka is similar in appearance and abilities to Akiha Tohno (遠野秋葉) in "Tsukihime" (another 'blueprint' character). The difference in their abilities is that Azaki's "ignition" is simply to induce burning, while Akiha's "plundering" is to take in and control outside heat. However, in appearance, the two look the same. The decisive difference: 'breasts.'

I think tomorrow I'll walk up to someone and punch them in the face for no reason. When they protest, I'll simply answer "Hey, in this neighborhood, you're lucky I didn't kill you! =D "

The "everyone is allowed to be an ass on the internet" attitude is kind of annoying. Either be an asshole in both real life and the internet, and be happy with your decision to be an abrasive, or be nice everywhere. I can't stand this "my ass-dickery doesn't count here, internets lol" thing.

Then again, I didn't find Angelic's comment especially harmful in general, so whatever. A simple "screw you, Angelic" would have sufficed, I think. Er, Neko koneko.

As you talk to me.
Besides, google sucks. Everyone knows that people are the real sources of information on the internet. Information gathering is socializing! And are you insinuating that I should kindly get off your internet? Are you asking for an e-peen swordfight? Because I'll give it to you. I'LL GIVE IT TO YOU!

Hm, but it is just the Internet... if you don't like it... click out?
You could say that about any place, though.
"Oh, it's just the mall. If you don't like the people there, just don't go."
"Oh, it's only McDonalds. If you don't like the people there, just don't go"
"Oh, it's just _________. Click out if you don't like it!"

And it's incomparable to real life.
Yeah, because most people don't have the balls to act the way they do on the internet in real life. Which is a shame, really. We'd have a lot more excitement in our lives if everyone felt free to be a twat whenever they fancied. X3

Ah, that's what I said when I found an old katana (So old that the sheathe had a few cracks in it and the paint was wearing off...kinda) in my aunt's bedroom XD

The time I lodged it inside the tree in the backyard was pretty fun, it took me a few minutes to get it out of the tree. (As a kid, I wasn't supposed to even be touching it, let alone embedding it in a tree so I was a bit panicked that my parents would find out) XD

You think a job will be any better?
Longer hours, bosses, tiny amounts of holiday etc etc

School Time: 80 hours
Job Time: 40-60 hours

School Bosses: Teachers whom are almost never flexible.
Job Bosses: They are flexible

School Holidays: lolwhut. 7 days out of a year
Job Holidays: Every year you get 7 sick days (with pay), and they can compound up to a month in length.

Sorry M but that is bull crap
jobs tend to be 9 til 5 or there abouts. 4o hour weeks
my uni is only 18 hours a week with the same amount expecten in revision. 36 hour weeks.

As for holidays students get about 2 months worth if not more, compared to 2 weeks holiday per year as an employed person

Bosses/teachers = lottery.

HopelessComposer
August 20th, 2008, 07:39 pm
Where the hell do you go to school, M?
Seven days out of the year off? What happened to summer and Christmas and Sring break?

Anyway, working can be worse than school, or it can be the other way around. It depends what kind of job you get yourself, and what kind of schooling you put yourself through. Apparently, M has the shittiest school situation ever, for example. X3

And I don't think you can really make huge generalizations like "teachers suck, bosses don't." I've met plenty of douches both at school and at work.

I want to meet M. It takes a pretty ridiculous person to put himself through an 80 hour school week (on top of work?!). If I met him, I imagine my impressions of him would be pretty extreme; either he'd turn out to be an inspirational badass, or I'd think of him as tapped in the head and mildly depressing, depending on his life goals and what kind of person he was. I'm sure he'd be interesting, at the very least.

School time: 80 hours
Fall semester = 18 credits @ 1 credit = 4 hours homework => 72 counting group think and discussions + ~8 = 80 hours

Job Time: 40-60 hours
Work = overtime without overtime expending. Salary pay almost always goes over 40 hours.

School Bosses: Teachers whom are almost never flexible.
Job Bosses: They are flexible

I'll leave it at that.

School Holidays: 7 days
School Holidays = Completely secular. No holidays.
Job Holidays = self explanatory.

Over the summer, I worked approx. 80 hour weeks with one day off a week (Sunday). This ends next wednesday as school starts :)

My work is something that I would normally do in my free-time, so it's not all that difficult to do.
\begin{narcissism}
Though, when they started putting administrative tasks like drawing a schematic for one of our Multimedia solutions, rewriting policy and procedures pages, dealing with workers that directly affect the way others look at your work, and attending meaningless meetings... That's when I start to pull my hair out.

It was like three weeks ago, I seven meetings across monday through friday, each about 60 minutes long. User services, which I was there just to represent my department; a Website meeting because our webmaster is an idiot and failed to select the right CMS, so we have to redo much of what was destroyed; An inner-relational meeting to improve communication with other sub-groups; Lunch with our crestron representative to get on the up-and-up with things; A meeting with the foreign language department to give them media solutions for their new computer laboratory; Change control, which exists to inform of any system changes that might effect computer systems that the campus uses; and an Instructional Session with incoming professors to teach them how to use our systems.

Also during that week, I had to assemble seven carts for newly acquired classrooms. I gave three out to my underlings, and did the rest myself. Each cart to go from scratch to mediated is around 3 hours for me to do, involving: punching out a cable hole in the top wood using a saw; assembling a mounting bracket; throwing in a computer, a DVD/VCR, Document Camera, and a power supply, a data muxer, hardware codec, independent power supply, touchpanel screen, and, sometimes, a multiplexer; and then forming and routing the cables inside the cart in such a way that it looks pretty, and also is easy to work on.

...yeah I don't do much in a week, now, do I? My co workers call me a witch because I make everything happen somehow.

\end{narcissism}

I'll get like twenty seconds of it, and it'll stop. Then I'll refresh, and get two more seconds. Rinse and repeat. Unless it decides to just stop downloading altogether. Stupid piece of shit!

It's probably because my router is in the basement, and I'm on the second floor. Nobody else in my house has these problems. And I'm the internet person here. God damnit.

Guh, my stupid uncle lost to me by half a point today in go. It's annoying, because I'll have to pay attention the next time we play. At least he's feeling the hilarious agony of coming so close, yet still failing. Serves him right, annoying bastard.

Edit: Some cheery woman came in to my store today asking for donations for some charity she was representing. So was so happy and friendly, until I declined her invitation to give away my money. I thought she was going jump over the counter and try to kill me. Meanest. Look. Ever. I only have like $40 to spend a week as it it. Plus I'm an asshole. Screw, lady!

Next time someone asks me for donations and I feel the need to decline, I'll be sure to say something like "sorry, I hate children with AIDs." I wonder what will happen? Maybe it's a better idea to keep my dry humor to myself...

I really hate donation-people, though. "Anything will help. ANYTHING. ANYTHING WILL HELP. WHY ARE YOU SUCH A WORTHLESS PERSON!? GIVE ME YOUR MONEY TO SAVE PEOPLE." So pushy! So condescending! And when I do give them money, I feel like I've been bullied into doing so. These people make me feel ashamed that I'm saving little African kids. What the fuck is that?! That's why I'll never give money to these beggars-with-a-cause again. When I feel like donating, I'll do so in bulk, without anyone practically demanding that I do so.

Phuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu~

Maybe instead of declining, I should just keep on pretending to hold back laughter as they explain what they're raising money for, eg:

"You see, we're trying to raise funding for these kids - they're malnourished-"
Pfffffft. X3
"usually homeless-"

"and many of them are amputees due to-"

It feels like Fall! Endorphin overloaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!~
My birthday's in September, plus school starts in the Fall, so this season is always super nostalgic for me. I get all happy for no reason. Probably my favorite season! But then again, I think I love all the seasons...hmmmm...

Now my autumn soundtrack fits, though. Hidamari, Disgaea(for Halloween, lol), and Haruhi songs are all 100% more enjoyable to listen to during the Fall.

Dango Daikazoku = Winter
Azumanga Daioh = Spring
Allegro Cantabile = Summer

You have to make sure to listen to the right songs during the right sort of weather if you want them to work correctly.

Let's see... the action is very good, and gar moments are indeed gar =p
Still, I felt it was lacking in plot depth. When you really think about it, it's still just a typical shonen plot where enemies come along with increasing strength, and then the protagonist discovers a new power and/or finds his 'resolve', and then wins. Still, the few twists in the show and overall concepts are very interesting, and there are definitely some unique overarching themes.

I thought the beginning of the second arc had been the best part of the show, and was actually rather disappointed with the direction the plot took around episode 20. IMO if they expanded on the whole scapegoating thing instead of going back to killing enemies, it would have added a lot more impact to the show overall.

I ended up rating the show 8.5/10.

To put that into perspective, I gave Death Note 9, Higurashi 8, ef - a tale of memories 9.5, FMA 8.5, and SHnY 7.7 (braces for impact =S).

IMPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACT!!!
I liked Gurren Lagann exactly because Gainax accepted the fact that they didn't need an overly convoluted or artsy plot to make a great show. They took the essence of all things manly, stuck it into a show, and called it an anime. They very artfully demonstrated the beauty of being stupidly courageous against all odds, and that makes me very happy. X3
Oddly enough, a lot of people agree with me:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6698
My friend pointed that out to me a few days ago, and it actually surprised me. I was expecting the show to have a lot more average ratings, but most people rated it excellent, then great, then very good, etc. I was expecting the bulk of its ratings to be more in the very good range, because like you said, the story is pretty typical. XD

And for the record, I was angry there was even any scapegoating at all in Gurren Lagann. "What's this weak-faggotry doing in my TTGL?! JUST KILL FOREHEAD. HE'S SUCH A PUSSY!!! WHY DOESN'T THE GURREN BRIGADE JUST KICK HIS ASS AND TAKE BACK THE STATE?!" Was basically the sentiment me and all of my friends shared. lulz.

And I'm going to have to watch Tale of Memories now, since you rated it so high. Your having a Kanon signature makes me automatically trust your taste in anime more than I would.

Gotank
August 31st, 2008, 01:06 am
Regarding the whole scapegoating thing, it was definitely a RAGE moment for me as well, but that's not the same as actually disagreeing with the plot writers' choice to have it. IMO being able to draw strong emotions from audiences is usually a success for anime, as long as it's not 'wow this show is crap, I'm angry' type of sentiments =)

Anyways, I guess you're right. Complications like that doesn't really fit with TTGL in the first place.

The high rating at animenewsnetwork is interesting; it was actually one of the reasons I started on TTGL in the first place.

I'm glad you'll consider ef; if you hated Forehead in TTGL, there's definitely someone you'll hate just as much in there =)

Nah. I don't expect it. I demand it.

A recognized nickname should be used at least once when talking about something out of context, rather than using abbreviations in CamlCase, which is similar to me saying: the CLI found an PERR in the CRL; there is a FUBAR in the STL whilst attempting to HC the variable TTGL-supplied-p using the REPL TLI.

That line made me laugh. It sounds like something out of that great stick figure comic by that maths guy. xwcd or whatever it's called.

....why do you need Visual Basic to track an IP address?
If you need to ask that, you have no future in the field of criminal investigation! X3
Heh, that reminds me. A few people came into my workplace the other day with a laptop they were renting from us. They had this huge problem with it; everything was huge on the screen, and they didn't know why!
They didn't know how to change their resolution. I almost cried, except the heat of my anger evaporated all my tears. So I just showed them how to not be completely retarded and sent them on their way. They weren't even old. They were like thirty-five. I don't know how they couldn't do basic things in Windows. Of course, some other lady came in like a year ago with a preschool toy laptop, and wanted to know how to get onto the internet with it. She didn't even know what a computer was, as she had somehow succeeded in never seeing one over the forty-odd years of her life. Kind of amazing. You'd think she'd walk into the library or something at least once. Jesus.

Donno if that's the same as the link you provided, Infinity, since it was taking a while to load. Anyways, this is a song typing game... some of the harder songs are like impossible to keep up with unless you're familiar with typing romanized Japanese X.X

Hell begins in 7 hours.

I should just go say "yeah I spent 2 weeks of holidays writing this single drum beat loop... for my end of year project" and ramble on about the artistic merits of simplicity to see if I get a passing mark?..

At least I don't have to teach n00b coding. Now I hate coding.

That game is fun, but I don't like how it makes the letter you're on so huge. I always look past that letter, and type the next one in queue instead. D:
Also, knowing Japanese would make the game a thousand times easier.

And I'm on the second episode of Air. lol angel-wings backpack!

I actually didn't recognize the cameo appearance even though I watched Air right after Kanon. The art style is just unexpected =p
