Bad news. My computer got infected with a virus, and I deleted the virus but for some reason also deleted part of the critical system registry key or file(s) so yeah one svchost.exe was overflowing, and now it stopped so I can type, but I cant move files or backup.

So I have to reformat. This is definately the worse day of my life ontop of everything else that happened today.

Bleh, I couldve killed myself when I had the chance.

Lol, one of those days.

I really hate school now. Im wasting my time at a million dollar social building. I really only learn in about 2 classes in school, so whats the point? I end up sleeping half the day, drawing and yell for people to shut up so I can sleep. Im way ahead of most my class when in comes to intelegence, common sense and hygene and I know some teachers just have somthing out for me.

God, if you pitty a boy who hates your holy guts, please send me to high school now.

Okay, heres the computer situation I am at. (Note that I am typing on my gaming computer *ahem*spoiled*ahem*.)

My work computer was infected with a virus, and I got rid of it (I believe so, deleting registry keys, programs, etc from the system32 folder. Dont worry, I know wich file I deleted, but for the registry kets, ehh I went with the ones that were very suspicious with no key value.)

Here's the problem. Once I restarted my computer, the taskbar no longer appears, the loading of windows has slown down incredibly, I can no longer drag any files or view any details from the events in the event viewer from the administrative tools. (The reason why I wanted to use the event viewer was because after the virus striked, I saw alot of alerts in the event viewer, but cant click on them to view details.)

To open up windows explorer I had to use task manager since I do not have a taskbar, and etc. I booted in safe mode when I removed the virus, and deleted SVCHOSTS.EXE in system32 folder (known virus, original windows file is SVCHOST.EXE) And also in the task manager I see one instance of SVCHOST.EXE using the cpu of 99%, so I decided that something went terrible wrong with the computer. Either I deleted a registry key that was critical, or the virus screwed my computer up.

Now here's my options;

A) Reinstall my computer from scratch
B) Find another way

So far I am trying to avoid the A option as much as possible since it contains MANY gigabytes of ANIME, MUSIC, and GAMES (Some of which are terribly rare and cant be replaced and I do not have the CDS for them anymore.) I've used alot of options from B but it all failed. I only have a few tries left before I give up and move to option A.

Now I want to backup all of my anime, games, and music, but remember that I cannot drag files. I cannot set them to share for some reason, yet I might be able to put them on CD (Which I dont know if it will work.)

Can you help me with my situaton? (Remember I am trying to avoid option A, so please help me with opinions, suggestions, and maybe programs that help me with the battle against my errornous computer.)

WINDOWS XP
2.8 GHZ 512 MB RAM
80 GB hard drive
Internet - CABLE.

Svchost is a windows process(well my anti-virus softwear aint killed em off yet), its a process that links file .dlls from what I know.
But I got the same sort of thing where when I went on the net a Svchost process took up 60% of the CPU and constantly read/wrote to the hard drive. I fixed the problem by installing service pack 2 for windows
