It's not OSX, it's just a new Windows that doesn't live up to it's predecessor. I guess in that way it's indeed a new ME, but I wouldn't say it's a failure. It's more stable than XP (since drivers are less likely to give you blue screens) and it has a lot of new features. Those new features could also have been included in a new XP service pack though.

But your avoiding the fact that Microsoft has failed to include features they promised, or at least said it is going to have because promise is a strong word. I do agree its very more stable and better while compared to XP, but Gadgets? I mean, come on. If your looking into Vista for those kind of features, might as well look into an os from a company that has gotten Widgets down and the likes.

MacOS doesn't run a lot of the programs (read: games) that home users want to run though, and besides that, Mac would also require people to buy a new computer, Vista doesn't.

And apparently a lot of the features MS promised will be included in SP1, which will be free for everyone who bought Vista. This unlike that certain company with fruit for a logo, where you have to pay over a 100 dollars for an upgrade of your OS from 10.4 to 10.5

Usually people who get macs know what they are doing and why they are doing it because... well its more geeky. But yeah, a lot of things are made for Microsoft OS's, which is a down. Bootcamp is not going to suffice, because face it, a Mac isn't a Windows and vice versa [god their insides are built so differently, I'll die if I have to try and play my games on a Mac...].

There is, however, a huge list of stupid critics, which are common for all new OS's. Bugs, boo-hoo it will fix itself with patches and updates.

And about those toolbars, it's the people who install it, it's not part of Windows so you can't blame MS for that. If Mac was more popular that would have been the target of spyware, but mac simply isn't popular enough.

The fun thing with mac is that it's actually BSD Unix with Apple software on top of it. The BSD is save and pretty much hack proof, the Apple software has enough of its own security holes :lol:

About the Gaming..the insides of the machine arent diferent at all, infact through bootcamp you get the same experience on a mac than a similarly equipped PC. Rightnow asfar as I know apple does lack a machine that would double up as a good gamer, the imacs and macbook pro are good with x1600 and a go7300. The MacPro equipped with a x1900 had some oddities, because of the ram it used. (AFAIK)

Mac USED to be better with PS than Windows, now that Mac also uses Intel processors, there's not much of a difference anymore. Photoshop used to be better because it worked well with Mac's PowerPC processors, but those went bye bye.

And it's not about security holes, Windows XP just runs for people, they don't need anything new right now.

As for the programs I so desperately need, try OpenCanvas, Zbrush, PainterXI, and basically any videogame ever released. Oh. I also want to start doing some game dev work soon. I somehow doubt the directX SDK and assortment of other random windows-based tools I need are going to run on a Mac. At least not the way I'd want them to. Ah, and Omegaspreadsheet v1.2. Can't forget that one. XD

I didn't have to do English essays as it is seen as a secondary language for me (although I have never once fully learned a language). English is my closest so far. Then German. Then French. Then Japanese. My father reccommended I re-learn (although I think learn is more accurate at my ability) Japanese as it will be important for business, but it is time consuming and I plan not to go there again - Kyoto is crowded and busy and eurgh. wow someone to suffer with me. I have to rewrite my WHOLE essay on love from A Midsummer Night's Dream I used big words in the wrong places, dictionaries don't tell you how to use big words, they just vaguely tell you want they mean.

I had to cut 250 words right out of mine.
Essay word-count limits hurt me.

Time constraints in speeches hurt me. I had to give a speech with two pages of information that was single-spaced at 1" margins at a size 10 font in four minutes or else I'd be docked. I finished at 3 minutes, 47 seconds. -.-;

Another good thing is that when you buy Windows or Mac, you have the right to suport, for example over phone. Linux generally doesn't have this kind of support, not for any distibution, because generally Linux isn't aimed at consumers but at companies.

Exactly. Mac's are best for people who don't know much about computers, don't care much for computer gaming, and who want a nice, pleasing interface. Windows is best for people like me, who know a bit about computers, don't really care what their GUI looks like, and wants to use a wide variety of programs. Don't worry. In a few years, computers will be fast enough to triple boot with ease. Or run all three OS's at once. Then we can all run Winmacux boxes and be friends.

The only time those terms are used is when discussing early geography and it's transformations from Pangea to present; or other highly historical articles.

By the way, the term Americas is used to refer to this continent you keep referring to as America. Because there is North and South America.

I don't know if you know this already DZW, but if there's lice going around, you should refrain from washing your hair. Having dirty, greasy hair makes it harder for lice to attach to/survive on your head, even though that goes against popular belief. Apparently using gel or hair spray also makes it tougher on the nasty little buggers. Lice are gross! Good luck with that! And don't rub heads with anybody! X3

If you actually read what I said M, you would see that I discovered that we were both right, and that there are different ways of teaching it.
