To view Japanese in Windows (not just Internet Explorer): Install asian text support in MS windows. You need to go into Control Panel and double click Regional & Language options. Click on the Languages tab and at the bottom theres a small box that is followed by: "Install files for East Asian Languages". Click that, then apply. It'll prompt you for a windows disk. Do that and restart. You should now be able to see Japanese, Chinese, and Korean fonts.

For typing in japanese, you need to go back into Regional and Language Options and into the Languages tab again. At the very top click the "Details" button. Near the center click the add button and you should get a popup window prompting you for a language. In the Drop-down menu select Japanese. Click ok.

Now go into the button at the bottom that's called "Language Bar". Just click all the boxes on and then click ok. You should now have a bar at the top of your screen. Select the first box (EN English (United States)) and it'll become a dropdoun for your other languages. Select Japanese. Now you have to tell it your typing in Romanji(sp?). Go over to the input mode menu and click it. Take your choice in what type of input you like. Now start to type in Romanji (something like Watashi wa or Gomen nasi(sp?)). Watch as it magically turns to japanese right before your eyes.

There ya go!
