I thought the same, but this book is going a little backwards.
It starts with very basic 3d, then goes to more basic stuff, then back to more advanced 3d.

I was surprised and a little annoyed with it at first, but it's actually flowing pretty well.
And what text methods are you talking about? If you have any methods or tips that you think are especially helpful/important, feel free to list them, and I'll totally look them up. The hardest part about learning to program for me is figuring out what I'm supposed to learn first! :heh:

Actually, that's what frustrates me the most about programming - there's so much stuff to learn, that no matter what order you learn things in, you're going to have to accept a lot of things at face value for awhile and come back to them later. You learn math by going "ah, this is how I count. Now if I put this group with this one, I'm adding. The opposite of adding is subtracting. Now let's try multiplication and division! Geometry, algebra, calculus!"

Programming is more like "Here's a huge mess of crap to know. It all interrelates - learn it all at once, and keep relearning it until you know everything!"

At least, that's been my experience.
I can't stand when the stuff I'm using is like "this block of code does this. Ignore lines 8, 15, and 23; we'll go over those later. For now, just know what this block does, and think on it for a bit. Make sure to keep lines 8, 15, and 23 in the back of your mind though! We'll come back to those in a week or so!"

Ah, that seems like a decent progression. I know basic text. Math evaluation I'm fine with I think. I hope I know what variables and methods are by now. I'm okay with the concepts behind memory allocation, but not great.

To be fair, the book I'm using is XNA Unleashed, so it really is a book mostly focusing on the last three things you listed; the book assumes you have a pretty good grasp on C# before starting, and makes a point of saying so. I'm not awesome at C#, but I'm following along without any problems so far, so whatever I guess! I know enough to not be confused by what the book is presenting, so that's good enough for now I suppose.

But! I do know a good deal of C# already. I've watched the twenty or so 45 minute - hour long videos from Microsoft, teaching the basics of the language, and I've read most of Programmer Haven's lengthy (and very informative!) E-book.

So I'm learning the XNA library now, mwahahahah.
Don't worry, I'll be fine. Besides, I'm sure I'll be reading another twenty programming books in the near future anyway.
In any case, I still haven't run into any problems learning XNA from the book I'm using right now, so I have at least the bare-minimum of C# knowledge to learn this. I have PH's book on my desktop for emergency references though, just in case. :)

Also, it's snowing like crazy over here, and it's awesome looking. We're supposed to get over a foot of snow! =D

And where else have you seen a pre-rendered movie that looked that good? Have you ever met anyone who could come close to making that video? Their artists are geniuses; I wasn't complementing their programming team. Not yet, anyway. The supposed gameplay from FFXIII looks extremely good too though, so I'll probably be complimenting them later too.

And lol Zero, the joystiq link is awesome. I'd watch MTV if were had more stuff like that on it over here.

I think vista requires you to use its own powertools, which are Either integrated into the OS (smart), or not yet available (not smart). I don't work on vista much, if at all, so I can't help you there (AKA, seek Angelic).

I do know that Creative Element (not free) makes something, but I'm not certain if X-Mouse emulation is there. 1

For this reason, Microsoft Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys. PowerToys are for Windows XP only and will not work with Windows Vista.

ive never found a goof time to use that function in vista, the alt tab function is much better than xp i have to say. since you can see whats on the screens
